How to play The Getaway limited-time mode in Fortnite
The Getaway is a heist-style game mode that requires players to retrieve a jewel on the map, and escape with the valuable in a Getaway Van. The first three teams to reach a Getaway Van with a jewel will win the game, but it’s also possible to take the victory by simply eliminating all the lives of the opposing teams.
Holding a jewel does slow down your movement speed and shows your location on the map for the whole lobby to see. However, a jewel restores health and shield over time, a useful feature since you’ll be exposed to the enemy who will be attempting to stop your progress.
The Getaway limited-time mode is live now until April 1, 2025 with both build and zero build options in duo and squads. It’s the first limited-time mode to receive a Ranked variant, where each member of your team will receive a large bonus to their rank for extracting a Jewel, and rank progression from each match is increased.
The re-release of the mode is just one of the additions that came with patch v34.10. New weapons made their way into the loot pool, while the Outlaw Midas mid-season outfits and matching cosmetics became available to unlock for battle pass owners by earning account levels.
