The Gigantamax Butterfree Max Battle Day will happen on August 3, 2025, from 2pm to 5pm local time. There are event bonuses and Timed Research opportunities to provide boosts along the way.

The following Pokémon will make its Pokémon Go Gigantamax debut in six-star Max Battles:
- Gigantamax Butterfree (lucky Trainers may encounter a Shiny)
Event Bonuses
The bonuses that will be active during the event are:
- Max Particle collection limit increased to 1,600
- All Power Spots will host Gigantamax Battles
- Power Spots will refresh more frequently
- 8x Max Particles from Power Spots
- Two additional Special Trades
- From August 2 at 5pm to August 3 at 8pm PDT, the daily Remote Raid Pass limit will increase from 10 to 20
The following bonuses will be active on August 3, 2025, from 12am to 5pm local time.
- 2x Max Particles from exploring
- 1/4 Adventuring distance to receive Max Particles
For these bonuses to apply, you must first collect all Max Particles available in the Nearby menu.
Timed Research
There will be Timed Research available leading up to the event, giving you the chance to encounter a Dynamax Pokémon that is a strong contender for battles against Gigantamax Butterfree. These tasks will also award Candy and Max Particles to help power up your team.

Event Ticket
For US$4.99 (or the equivalent pricing tier in your local currency,) you’ll be able to access event-exclusive Timed Research. This Timed Research will be live on August 3, 2025, from 2pm to 5pm local time.
Timed Research rewards include:
- 1 Max Mushroom
- 25,000 XP
You’ll also receive:
- 2x XP from Max Battles
- Max Particle collection limit increased to 5,600
