Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants has several all-new puzzles that players will need to solve if they hope to learn the secrets buried beneath Rome. One of the earliest puzzles in the DLC is the Water Serpent puzzle, which tasks players with redirecting the flow of water through a strange pattern on the ground. This puzzle requires some thought and even some platforming skills, so allow me to provide some assistance to anyone who might be struggling with it. This guide will show players how to complete the Water Serpent puzzle in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants.
How to Complete the Water Serpent Puzzle in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants
The Water Serpent puzzle is found beneath the Secret Study. After finding the key in the Crusader helmet found in the study, open the hidden passage through the peculiar wall. Go down a spiral staircase behind the wall and follow the passage at the bottom of the stairs to find a giant chamber with a large serpent statue that has water coming from its mouth.

To complete this puzzle, you will need to unlock all 5 locks on the door at the far end of the room behind the serpent statue. To do this, you must direct the water to 5 specific holes in the ground at the same time. You will need to use the Serpent Wrench found in the chamber to change the flow of the water. Before you can get water into all of the correct holes, you will need to raise the four metal plates around the room by getting to a specific hole beneath each plate.

To make the explanation easier to understand, I will be using the key shown in the image below, with each circle referenced by its column and row. Each column will be described with a C, and each row will be described with an R. For example, the circle all the way in the left is in the first column and in the first row. So, this circle will be called C1R1. This carries to every circle on the grid. Refer to the key below if you need help.

Metal Plate #1
The first plate you can raise is the one in the top right of the puzzle chamber. To do this, get the water to reach C4R1.
- With the water starting in C3R3, have water flow into C3R2.
- Rotate C3R2 to direct the water into C4R2.
- C4R2 will immediately direct the water into C4R1 without you needing to change anything else.

With the water reaching C4R1, the top right metal plate will rise.

Metal Plate #2
The second plate you can raise is the one in the bottom right of the puzzle chamber. To do this, get the water to reach C5R5.
- With the water starting in C3R3, rotate C4R3 so that it receives water and sends water to C4R2.
- Rotate C4R2 so that it gets the water from C4R3 and sends water to the right into C5R2.
- C5R2 will immediately direct the water through both C5R3 and C5R4, allowing it to reach C5R5 without you needing to change anything else.

With the water reaching C5R5, the bottom right metal plate will rise.

Metal Plate #3
The third plate you can raise is the one in the bottom left of the puzzle chamber. To do this, get the water to reach C1R4.
- With the water starting in C3R3, rotate C4R3 so that it receives water and sends water to C4R4.
- Rotate C4R4 so that it gets the water from C4R3 and sends water down into C4R4. The water will then go through C3R4, C2R4, and C2R3.
- Rotate C1R3 to retrieve water from C2R3 and send the water down to C1R4.

When the water reaches C1R4, the bottom left metal plate will try to rise, but the mechanism is stuck. To fix this, you will need to climb up to pull out the Serpent Wrench stuck in the gear.

Go to the southwest corner of the room and jump onto the raised southwest metal platform (Metal Plate #1), and then jump over to the southeast platform (Metal Plate #2). From the second platform, look at the close wall to see a hole in the side of the serpent statue. Jump into this hole to climb up on the serpent. Go behind the serpent’s head to swing to the other side of the room.

Walk across the serpent’s back to reach the corner of the room above Metal Plate #3. Use your whip on the Serpent Wrench in the gears above the plate. Yank on the wrench to pull it out and get the metal plate to finally rise.

Metal Plate #4
The final plate you need to raise is the one in the top right of the puzzle chamber. To do this, get the water to reach C1R1.
- Most of this plate retains the same formation as Metal Plate #3. Keep C4R3, C4R4, C4R4, C3R4, C2R4, and C2R3 the same along the path until you reach C1R3
- Rotate C1R3 to retrieve water from C2R3 and send the water up to C1R2.
- C1R2 will immediately direct the water through both C2R2 and C2R1, allowing it to reach C1R1 without you needing to change anything else.

With the water reaching C5R5, the top left metal plate will rise.

Water Serpent Door Solution
With all the plates raised, you will need to get water to flow to C4R1, C5R5, C1R4, C1R1, and the circle that is above the puzzle, close to the door at the far end of the room.
- C3R3 sends water up and to the right at the same time. Have C3R2 retrieve water from C3R3 and send water to the left to C2R2. Also, have C4R3 retrieve water from C3R3 and send it up to C4R3.
- With the upside-down “T” in C2R2, the water should flow all the way to C4R4. Rotate C4R4 to retrieve water from C3R4 and send it down to C4R5. This should send water all the way to C1R4. This should have C4R4 retrieve water from C4R2 and send water to the right into C5R2.
- Rotate C5R2 so that it creates a sideways “T” shape, retrieving water from C4R2 and sends water both up and down to C5R1 and C5R3. The path should send the water all the way to both C4R1 and C5R5.
- Have C2R2 form an upside-down “T” shape so water is retrieved from C3R2 and send the water to both C1R2 and C2R1.
- With the upside-down “T” in C2R2, the water should flow all the way to C4R4. Rotate C4R4 to retrieve water from C3R4 and send it down to C4R5. This should send water all the way to C1R4.
- Rotate C2R1 to form a T shape that retrieves water from C2R2 and sends it to both C1R1 and C3R1. The water going to C3R1 will send the water to the circle above the rest of the puzzle.

When the water reaches all of the circles required, the door at the far end of the room will open. This will complete the Water Serpent puzzle!
