While exploring Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, players will come across these strange rocks with blue cracks through them that can’t be interacted with. These stones stick out from the rest of the game’s artstyle, so it only makes sense that players think there is some way to break these things open. Luckily, there is a way to break these rocks, though it requires a unique ability to do so. This guide will show players how to break the Blue Rocks in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
How to Break the Blue Rocks in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
To break the Blue Rocks, you need to first unlock the Paint Break ability. To do this, you will need to find 4 of the Lost Gestral collectibles. There are a total of 9 Lost Gestrals in the game and you will unlock the Paint Break after collecting any of the 4. This guide will break down where to find the 4 earliest Lost Gestrals in the game.
The first Lost Gestral you can find is in front of the Esquie’s Nest entrance.

Another Lost Gestral can be found down the path to the right of the Stone Wave Cliffs entrance. You can find it behind the Bourgeon enemy.

After you complete Act I and unlock Esquie’s swim ability, you can reach the island to the northwest of the Gestral Beach near the White Tree area.

Go through the Forgotten Battlefield and look near some trees southeast of the Monoco’s Station entrance.

Once you have found 4 Lost Gestrals, go to your Camp and follow the path to the left of the cave with the Curator inside. At the end of this path, you can find another cave entrance to the left. Speak to the large Gestral named Sastro and he will give you the Paint Break ability.

You can use your melee attack against the blue rocks in the world to break them. You will find loot within the rocks and can even reveal new paths in certain areas of the map.
