How to Solve the Lakeview Hotel Bookshelf Puzzle in Silent Hill 2 Remake
The Bookshelf Puzzle in the Lakeview Hotel is found on the 2nd Floor in the Reading Room. To reach this room, you will first need to gain access to the Sunshine Wing. The key that unlocks this wing is found in the Utility Room. Go to the hallway to the right of the Music Box Puzzle in the lobby and then go south down the hall. The Utility is found next to Room 107 at the bottom of the hall. The Sunshine Wing Key is found on the table.
Go to the staircase at the center of the Lobby. At the top of the stairs, go to the right to find the door and unlock it. The Reading Room is the first door on the right. Inside, there are 4 books that can be found around the room. Each one has a gold symbol on the spine.
The symbols correspond with an animal in the giant painting on the right wall. There is a lion, an eagle, a bull, and a winged man. At the center is a dead man pierced with two spears. This is the Key to the Bookshelf Puzzle.
Go to the Bookshelf in the southeast corner of the Reading Room and interact with it. There will be 4 open spaces on the shelf with a gold medallion at the center with the engraving of two spears. The spears of the medallion are facing upwards. Since the spears in the painting are facing down, you will need to imagine the painting is upside down and place the books in the spots of the animal that matches the symbol on the spine. Here is the breakdown of where to put every book:
- Winged Man in the top left.
- Bull in the bottom left.
- Lion in the bottom right.
- Eagle in the top right.
This will cause the Bookshelf to slide back and out of the way, revealing a secret passage that leads into Room 205 which is where you can complete the Suitcase Puzzle.
