While the game does have a critical path that players can stick to if they know it, first-time players will likely want to explore the titular town and will also likely get lost in the suffocating fog. Players going through the game on their initial playthrough while doing some exploring will likely finish the game in about 15 hours not accounting for replaying sections of the game and losing progress due to deaths. A 100% playthrough will run you a few extra hours, reaching over 20 hours.

Like any good survival game, this game can be speedran by players and there is even an Achievement for completing the game in under 10 hours. Players who really know the ins and outs of the game will be able to get through the game with an hour count in the single digits.
The game is very much meant to be replayed with a New Game+ mode and a total of 8 different endings to discover, some of which only being able to be unlocked in New Game+.
