Silent Hill 2 Remake is a reimagining of the seminal 2001 masterpiece and puts players back in the shoes of James Sunderland on his journey through the fog-laden town with a whole new coat of paint. As players prepare for the horrors the town has in store for them, it is important to know how long it will take to go from that bathroom mirror to the game’s credits. Just like the original, the remake is packed full of content with even several additions that longtime fans won’t expect. Whether you have played the original 100 times over the decades or are experiencing this story for the first time, here is how long the game is. This guide will tell players how long it takes to beat Silent Hill 2 Remake.
How Long Is Silent Hill 2 Remake?
Silent Hill 2 Remake has expanded on the original game in a number of ways and because of that comes in at a notably longer runtime. While the game does have a critical path that players can stick to if they know it, first-time players will likely want to explore the titular town and will also likely get lost in the suffocating fog. Players going through the game on their initial playthrough while doing some exploring will likely finish the game in about 15 hours not accounting for replaying sections of the game and losing progress due to deaths. A 100% playthrough will run you a few extra hours, reaching over 20 hours.
While the game doesn’t have named chapters, it is divided into multiple different zones. Here is a list of all the areas that you will visit in Silent Hill 2 Remake:
- East South Vale
- Wood Side Apartments
- Otherworld Blue Creek Apartments
- West South Vale
- Brookhaven Hospital and Otherworld Brookhaven
- Toluca Prison
- Labyrinth
- Lakeside Hotel
Like any good survival game, this game can be speedran by players and there is even an Achievement for completing the game in under 10 hours. Players who really know the ins and outs of the game will be able to get through the game with an hour count in the single digits.
The game is very much meant to be replayed with a New Game+ mode and a total of 8 different endings to discover, some of which only being able to be unlocked in New Game+. To see all the endings, you will likely get another 30 hours out of the game with the number of times that you want to replay it being endless! Maybe you too will make this town your “Special Place…”
