With the introduction of the new Mercenaries Mode into Resident Evil 4 Remake, players have the chance to play as characters from the game’s main story that aren’t Leon as they attempt to rack up a lot of points and survive the fun arcade horde mode. One of these characters is Major Jack Krauser, Leon’s former mentor and the man behind Ashley’s kidnapping. While players are able to play as Krauser, he isn’t available immediately and needs to be unlocked, and sometimes it’s fun to play as the bad guy! This guide will tell players how to unlock Krauser as a playable character in the Mercenaries Mode of Resident Evil 4 Remake.

How To Unlock Krauser In Resident Evil 4 Remake Mercenaries Mode
In order to unlock Krauser, players will first need to unlock Luis. You can find Gameranx’s guide on how to unlock the beloved character here. Once you have acquired him, play on any stage and earn at least an A rank as Luis. Once you achieve an A rank while playing as Luis, Krauser will become a playable character with his own loadout of weapons and his own special ability. Where Leon is a balanced fighter and Luis likes to keep his distance, Krauser likes to hit hard with every one of his options, whether it be up close or far away. Krauser relies on his fully upgraded TMP submachine gun and his indestructible Fighting Knife to deal with enemies up close. His exclusive Explosive bow-and-arrow weapon seen in his boss fight is also at his disposal and can reduce just about any enemies to nothing with a single direct hit.
Just like the other characters that are playable in Mercenaries, Krauser has a unique Mayhem Mode ability. Mayhem Mode is a special ability that you can activate whenever the bar at the bottom of the screen is filled. The ability is unique for each character and can really turn the tide if you find yourself getting overrun or simply want to rack up a giant combo. Krauser, having accepted the “gift” of Las Plagas, is able to mutate into the form seen during his boss battle and provides him with massive melee slashes as well as a stinger maneuver that sees him lunging forward in a thrusting attack that comes straight out of Devil May Cry. The trade-off here is that Krauser becomes extremely slow-moving while in this form.
