After mopping up the three shrines in the “EX Champion Revali’s Song” quest, Windblight Ganon will be waiting in the Divine Beast above Rito Village. If you’ve never fought an Illusory Realm rematch battle found in The Champions’ Ballad, the second add-on for Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, then you should know why they’re so dang tough — Link must use a pre-selected loud out of weapons, armor, and items.
For this particular battle, Link actually has a few useful tools to fight Windblight Ganon effectively. You’ll start with three different types of bows — each has a different use, so give them all a try — and you’ll enter the arena with whatever hearts and stamina you’ve already unlocked. Windblight Ganon might look intimidating, but he might be the easiest of the four rematch bosses, making him a pretty good place to start your quest.

EX Windblight Ganon Boss Guide
In the “EX Champion Revali’s Song” quest, after completing the three shrines in the northwest corner of Hyrule, you’ll unlock a rematch against Windblight Ganon. Fast travel to Divine Beast Vah Ruto and prepare for a fight against the flying Ganon. In this battle, you’ll start with three bows, x100 arrows, x5 bomb arrows, a single sword, and three healing items.
Windblight Ganon stays in the sky, shooting energy blasts at Link while teleporting around the environment. Periodically, he’ll summon a tornado — run into the wind-tunnel and glide into the sky to avoid most of his early attacks.
To stun Windblight Ganon, glide into the sky and then target the central eye — shoot it three times while falling, and Windblight Ganon will be stunned. Keep aiming for the eye, and you’ll be able to take Windblight Ganon down to 50% health pretty quickly. The battle doesn’t get tough until the second half.
At 50% health, Windblight Ganon summons four small drones. Stunning Windblight Ganon (hit the eye three times quickly with arrows) will temporarily disable the drones too. I recommend using Urbosa’s Fury each time Windblight Ganon is stunned in the second round, and save your bomb arrows for the end.
Fly into the air with the wind-tunnels, slow-motion shoot Windblight Ganon’s eye three times, then attack while he’s stunned. If you can do that, this might be the easiest of the four rematch bosses.
- Reward: After defeating Windblight Ganon, you’ll earn an exclusive new scene with Revali, and unlock an enhanced version of Revali’s Gale.
