The Champions’ Ballad, the second DLC add-on for Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a step above the vanilla game in terms of difficulty. You won’t be able to brute-force your way through challenges with healing items anymore — to start the quest, you’ll need to collect a special weapon that kills enemies in one hit, but drains all your life.
It’s a high-stakes game of survival on the Great Plateau. Each of the four shrines is guarded by a large enemy encampment, and Link goes down if you’re hit even once. The shrines themselves are especially difficult too — some are obstacle courses, some are strange physics challenges, while others are lengthy gauntlets filled with Ancient enemies. They’re all difficult, and completing the first step of the “EX Champions’ Ballad” quest requires that you beat all four. Let’s get started.

How to Get Started | Quest Walkthrough
To get started on your quest, you’ll first need to complete all four Sacred Beasts, then you can begin the EX The Champions’ Ballad quest. Go back to the Shrine of Resurrection on the Great Plateau — that’s the very first area where Link awoke. Place the Sheikah Slate to begin.
Collect the One-Hit Obliterator to begin the quest. The One-Hit Obliterator is required to complete the first “shrine” challenge — when it is equipped, Link can kill enemies in one hit, but he’ll also be defeated in one hit. The effect has two charges, and the Obliterator will glow when the ability has recharged, just like the Master Sword.
Four markers will appear when you collect the One-Hit Obliterator — before you can tame the Divine Beasts, you’ll need to defeat the monsters at all four locations marked in the Great Plateau. When you defeat the monsters, a new Shrine will appear.
After completing all four trials, the four Divine Beasts will be reactivated. Enter the strange portals marked on your map to continue your quest!
