Everything In The Season 3 Reloaded Update In Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0
Overall Additions
Across Modern Warfare 2, Warzone 2.0, and DMZ, there are several changes and additions that are shared between all 3 of these games/modes. These include a new camo event that will allow players to get new unique skins as well as brand-new weapons!
Trophy Hunt Reloaded Event
In Season 2 of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0, the Path of the Ronin event was introduced which came in two forms: The first being a series of challenges that unlocked unique items with the final one being the Crossbow weapon while the second version was introduced in Season 2 Reloaded and consisted of challenges that would unlock new camos for players’ weapons. The Trophy Hunt Event is following the exact same trajectory as the original version of this Event that began at the start of Season 3 will be ending and replaced with a Trophy Hunt Reloaded Event.
Each weapon class will be getting its own unique challenge, which will unlock a new camo for that weapon class when the challenge is completed. Completing all the challenges will unlock a unique Weapon Charm that can be used across all weapons.
Below is the full list of challenges for the Trophy Hunt Reloaded Event:
- Assault Rifles: Get 250 Operator Kills
- Battle Rifles: Get 30 Headshot Operator Kills
- SMGs: Get 3 Operator Kills Without Dying 30 times
- Shotguns – Get 30 Hipfire Operator Kills
- LMGs: Get 50 Operator Kills While Mounted
- Marksman Rifles: Get 25 Longshot Operator Kills
- Sniper Rifles – Get 30 Longshot Operator Kills
- Sidearms: Get 50 Operator Kills
- Launcher – Get 40 Operator Kills
- Melee – Get 30 Operator Kills from Behind
“Operators” refers to other players, so kills against AI in Invasion, Warzone, or DMZ won’t count toward this total.
New Pistol: FTAC Siege
This new pistol is one of 3 new weapons being added in Season 3 Reloaded and is described as a “highly customizable, fully automatic machine pistol.” The FTAC Siege is a strong sidearm option for players that won’t exactly match the power of a regular SMG, but its quick fire rate could be a great weapon to swap to finish off an opponent. The challenge to unlock the FTAC Siege is to get 50 Sidearm Hipfire Operator Kills using Handguns. “Operators” refers to other players, so kills against AI in Invasion, Warzone, or DMZ won’t count toward this total.
New Pistol: GS Magna
The .50 GS is Modern Warfare 2‘s version of the Dessert Eagle and lives up to its power from its previous interactions. Now, the newest weapon joining Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0 takes that classic, hard-hitting weapon and decides that what it really needed was the ability to fire full-auto. While the weapon packs a massive punch, players that wield the weapon will need to compensate for some intense recoil. The challenge to unlock the GS Magna is to get 30 Headshot Operator Kills using the .50 GS.
New Lethal: Throwing Star
The first Lethal Grenade being added to the games, the Throwing Star shares a lot of aspects of its gameplay with the Throwing Knife Lethal Grenade already in the game but does have distinct differences that make it stand out and not just a reskin weapon. Where the knife will instantly kill an enemy that it strikes, the Throwing Star will need to hit the enemy in the head in order to get a one-shot kill. Non-lethal hits will cause a wounding effect on the enemy that is hit similar to the different ammo types found in the guns. The Throwing Star is also much quicker and has a higher total capacity that players can carry, making following up a non-lethal hit or a missed throw much quicker compared to the Throwing Knife. Players will unlock the Throwing Star after getting 50 kills with the Throwing Knife.
Modern Warfare 2
Modern Warfare 2 is getting a decent amount of content in this mid-season update with a new co-op Raid as well as a new map and a collection of new modes to play!
Atomgrad Raid Episode 3
The latest raid chapter in the story of the Modern Warfare universe continues in the game’s third Raid. After reuniting with Alex at the end of Episode 2, the Modern Warfare (2019) protagonist teams up with Price and Farah to travel deeper into the Soviet facility as they search for Farah’s brother Hadir and the missing warhead. Players that complete the Raid on any difficulty will unlock Alex as a playable Operator, with unique camos available for those who beat the Raid on Veteran as well as find certain items within the Raid itself.
Special Ops Mission: Defender — Hafid Port
This new Spec Ops mission is similar to the Zaya Observatory mission already in the game but this time takes players to the Hafid Port area found at the West end of Al Mazrah. Players will first need to clear out the enemies in the area and then will need to defend the Port from several waves of enemies with a large collection of weapons and purchasable killstreaks. The mission is won when the team survives all the waves.
Faceoff Returns
Just like the return of the fan-favorite Gunfight mode that arrived at the start of Season 3, the Reloaded Update brings back the popular Faceoff mode. First introduced in Modern Warfare 3 back in 2011, Faceoff is a 3v3 mode that takes familiar modes like Team Deathmatch and Kill Confirmed and puts them on smaller maps with smaller teams. The Faceoff games will be played on the same maps as the Gunfight mode, meaning that there will be a total of 4 maps when the mode is introduced. which has been sorely missed in Modern Warfare 2 is finally joining the game. The 4-player mode sees two teams of two placed into small maps as they try to eliminate each other with each round giving all players the same randomized Loadout. A round ends when both members of a team are eliminated. If the timer expires, a flag will spawn at the center of the map with the first team to capture it being named the winner of the round. The first team to 6 wins is declared the victor of the match.
The 4 Faceoff maps available at the mode’s release will be Shipment, the close-quarters arena first introduced in 2007’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare; Alley, a market found in Warzone 2.0‘s Al Mazrah; Exhibit, which will be part of the Valderas Museum multiplayer map; and Blacksite, a secret training ground that will also serve as the new Gulag in Warzone 2.0.
Giant Infection Game Mode Returns
The classic infection mode that sees a team of survivors trying to battle against a team of players that grows with each survivor that is eliminated is growing to a new size as it will now be played with the player count of the Battle Modes such as Ground War and Invasion and will be played on the Battle Maps.
Alboran Hatchery 6v6 Core Map
The only new map being added to Modern Warfare 2 is a 6v6 Core Map known as Alboran Hatchery. Found on the coast of Spain similar to the area found in the campaign mission, “Recon by Fire,” the map features both exteriors that see the hatchery podes used as cover as well as the nearby warehouse being used for indoor engagements. The official description says the map is “medium-sized” and says that plays will be “utilizing large cover objects to conduct stealth operations around the map or climb to upper vantage points for a view of the surrounding area. Balance your exposure with intel-gathering, with the best teams combining these tactics for a highly coordinated fight.”
Warzone 2.0
Season 3 Reloaded will introduce the long-awaited Ranked mode to the Battle Royale title as well as a few new mechanics that will give players more chances to get back into the fight as well as new ways to get certain items like perks.
Ranked Play
The new Ranked Play mode allows players that want to take part in the most competitive version of the Battle Royale mode to team up and climb the ranks for rewards and bragging rights. Players will begin in Bronze and will make their way up through Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Crimson, and finally Iridescent and Top 250. Each Rank has 3 Tiers that players will need to go through until reaching the next level. Players will reach new levels by getting SR which is gained through endgame placement, kills, and squad eliminations. By climbing the ranks, players will earn unique rewards. You can find Gameranx’s full breakdown of the Warzone Ranked Play system here.
Perk Packages
While players are now able to create perk builds in their custom classes, the new Perk Packages being introduced in Season 3 Reloaded will give players the chance to get some perks before getting their custom class. These Perk Packages will be a pre-made and non-customizable set of perks that can be found in the Battle Royale mode which will give players that haven’t received their loadout the chance to still have some perks at their disposal.
Deployable Buy Stations
Similar to the callable loadout drop, the new Deployable Buy Station will allow players to put up a Buy Station anywhere they want instead of traveling to a marked location on the map, making it much safer to purchase items since they won’t need to worry about Buy Station Campers. This new item will also be available in DMZ.
Gulag Entry Kit
Upon death, each player in Warzone’s Battle Royale gets one chance to battle in the Gulag in order to redeploy. The Gulag Entry Kit will be a collectible item that gives players another chance to reenter the Gulag if they happen to die a second time, giving them an extra opportunity to with the Battle Royale.
DMZ
The extraction mode of Warzone 2.0, DMZ saw many changes and overhauls to the mode at the start of Season 3, so Season 3 Reloaded doesn’t have the giant and sweeping changes there is one notable change coming to the Al Mazrah map.
New Koschei Complex
Players of the DMZ mode might have noticed certain locations that are teasing the construction of bunker entrances across the Al Mazrah map. These bunkers seem to be teasing the new Koschei Complex. This underground facility is still mostly being kept under wraps, Infinity Ward did confirm that some areas of the Complex are dark and will need the new Night Vision goggles to traverse. The Complex will hold many secrets and strong items, but will also have heavily armored and heavily armed Shadow Company soldiers.
