Go swimming for the most powerful weapon in Hyrule. Yes, really.

The most powerful weapon in Tears of the Kingdom is the Lightscale Trident — with some important caveats. Technically, with the power of randomness and last-hit upgrades, certain weapons can be stronger than the Lightscale Trident, but those require RNG. We’re going to consistent power here that doesn’t break in one hit. If you want to deal incredible damage with some setup, this is what you need to know about the Lightscale Trident.

For the other best weapon in Hyrule, check out our guide for the Scimitar of the Seven. Combine it with the right fusion to make a weapon nearly as strong as the Lightscale Trident.

How To Get The Lightscale Trident

To make the strongest weapon in Tears of the Kingdom — literally, this is the strongest weapon you can make without random upgrade rolls — you’ll need to get your hands on the Lightscale Trident.

  • Lightscale Trident Location: Complete the Water Temple in Zora’s Domain, then travel to the General Store — past the shop, talk to Dento.
  • Dento will request three items to craft the Lightscale Trident: x1 Zora Spear, x3 Diamonds and x5 Flint.

Creating the Lightscale Trident isn’t too difficult — here’s where to get the three ingredients.

  • Zora Spear: Find a small Lizalfos camp up the hill from the northwest bridge leading out of Zora’s Domain. The camp is right next to the Upland Zorana Foothill Cave if you’ve entered before. One of the Lizalfos is carrying a Zora Spear — they always appear!
  • Diamond: Diamonds are extremely rare ore deposit drops. Finding them from ore rocks is extremely difficult — it’s much easier to destroy Rare Stone Talus. Find easy Rare Stone Talus locations here.
  • Flint: Flint drops from ore deposits in caverns. Go to the underground of Hateno Village, accessible from the wells. Flint is a common drop.

The Lightscale Trident is a 44 Strength spear with the special Zora ability — when you’re wet, Zora weapons deal double damage. When you’re soaked in water, which you’ll remain briefly after crawling out of water, the Lightscale Trident does 88 Strength.

But that isn’t enough. If you want to make the ultimate weapon, you’ll need to do more.

How To Make The Most Powerful Weapon

The Lightscale Trident can become incredibly powerful with a fusion, a status, and the right armor. Let’s get started by creating the basic weapon.

  • Fuse the Lightscale Trident with the Molduga Jaw.
  • This increases the Lightscale Trident from 44 Strength to 108 Strength.

Your 108 Strength weapon becomes twice as strong when the spear is wet. You can make yourself wet by throwing a Splashfruit directly at your own feet. And we can continue to make the weapon stronger.

  • Equip the Radiant Set.
  • When fully upgraded, the Radiant Set increases damage done by bone weapons.
  • You can purchase the Radiant Set from the Kakariko Village Armor Shop. Complete the side-quest to lower the prices of the armor.

The Radiant Set can be upgraded with Luminous Stone which is a common drop from glowing ore deposits in caves and in the Depths.
