Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Teal Mask – How To Get Dipplin

September 15, 2023 by Kevin Thielenhaus

The Teal Mask Expansion doesn’t just bring back 100+ previous generation Pokemon, you’ll also find totally new forms and evolutions to unlock. That includes a trio of Legendary Pokemon. We’re focusing on something a lot smaller this time — the new Pokemon evolution Dipplin is both incredibly cute and easy-to-miss. To unlock this new Pokedex Entry, you’ll need to find an Evolution Item that can only be purchased in one location.

Dipplin is a new Pokemon available only in the Kitakami Region — the new region you’ll visit in the Teal Mask Expansion. Dipplin is a dipped apple Pokemon, perfect for the festival atmosphere of the new region. The sickly-sweet Dipplin automatically applies syrup to enemies in battle, lowering evasion. It even has a special Syrup Bomb signature move you can learn. To add a Dipplin to your Pokedex, you’ll need to follow these steps.

Don’t miss out on the hidden Bloodmoon Ursula or get a free Sinnoh Starter.

How To Catch Applin

Before you can get Dipplin, you’ll need an Applin. Many of these Pokemon spawn in Apple Hills to the west of Mossui Town. They’re hidden in the apple trees — get close to the trees and you’ll automatically battle any Applin hidden here.

Catch an Applin — they should be easy to catch! Once you have an Applin, we can evolve it into a Dipplin.

How To Evolve Applin Into Dipplin

Once you have Applin, you can evolve it into Dipplin with a special Evolution Item called a Syrupy Apple. There is only one location the Syrupy Apple can be found.

  • Syrupy Apple Evolution Item: Go to Mossfell Confluence in the southeast corner of the map. It’s the dark green grassy area far southeast of Mossui Town.
  • In this area, there’s a small farm with an empty shed. Next to the shed, there’s an Apple Stand. Here, you can purchase Syrupy Apples for 500 each.

Buy a Syrupy Apple — it appears in the Other Items section of your bag. Give it to an Applin that’s in your party to immediately evolve into a Drippin. Dripplin is a special candy apple Pokemon with a special syrupy move that’s totally unique to it.
