It isn’t often that Fortnite gives away skins free of charge. Usually, they’re locked behind a season battle pass or acquired via the in-game store by spending V-Bucks. However, any player has the opportunity to pick up the Fortnite FNCS Champion Sparkplug skin for free and here’s how.
FNCS stands for the Fortnite Champion Series, the official esports format where players compete for prizes. Tournaments take place in Zero Build or regular Battle Royale modes, with some restrictions to the loot pool compared to the standard ruleset.

Glory doesn’t go unrewarded
To get the Champion Sparkplug skin for free, you must take part in the FNCS Cup and secure a solid placement in your region. The Duos Cup will take place on July 16 and anyone ranked Bronze and above can participate.
Here’s the placement you need in order to secure a prize in your part of the world:
- Europe: 1st – 1300th
- North America: 1st – 1000th
- Oceania and Middle East: 1st -100th
- Brazil and Asia: 1st – 250th
The format is the same as any other FNCS tournament, with points being scored for eliminations and placement across a total of ten games. The higher the placement during a match, the more points you’ll earn and securing a respectable amount of kills per game can really take your duo over the line.
If you don’t take part in the Duos Cup or you don’t hit the required placement, the Champion Sparkplug skin and cosmetics will feature in the in-game store. Apart from the outfit, there’s the Winner’s Emblem Back Bling, FNCS Weapon Wrap, Scarlet Champion Pickaxe, and Bouncin’ Back Track.
