Fortnite has turned seven years old and the celebrations have already started. New and returning items make up the Fortnite birthday event, including the debut of the Birthday Medallion.
As expected, the update has taken various birthday items out of the vault and deployed them into the Chapter 5 Season 4 loot pool. The Firework Flare Gun is back to reveal opponents who try to shy away from the party, Balloons offer greater mobility, and a Birthday Cake consumable can be found at every point of interest.

How to get a Birthday Medallion in Fortnite
Birthday Medallions can only be found inside Birthday Presents. To obtain a Birthday Present, open regular Fortnite chests and keep an eye on the floor loot. Once you have a Birthday Present, simply throw it down and a giant gift will spawn. Then, take out your pickaxe and hit the Birthday Present to break it open. When you’re inside, you’ll find weapons and health items, alongside the Birthday Medallion.
All you have to do is interact with the Medallion to pick it up and start using its abilities. The Birthday Medallion gives you a Balloon when jumping, up to a maximum of three Balloons at a time. Unlike other Medallions in Chapter 5 Season 4, the Birthday version doesn’t mark your location on the map.
When a Balloon is attached to your character, it allows you to jump higher. The more Balloons you have tied to your back, the higher you’ll be able to reach. While you’re in the air, you can use your weapons, but keep in mind that enemies can shoot you down by popping the Balloons.
The Fortnite seventh birthday celebrations will come to an end on October 1, 2024. It’s expected that the Birthday Medallion will be removed from the game when the event winds down.
