Fortnite: How to Survive Fire Damage | Challenge Guide

September 6, 2024 by Lauren Sayles

Earn every Doctor Doom cosmetic.

The v31.10 patch brought a whole host of new Marvel content to Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 4. Included, is Shuri’s Black Panther Claws, the powerful Ultra Doom Mythic, and the addition of Doctor Doom to the battle pass. In order to unlock the Doctor Doom skins and related items, you need to complete a special questline. One of these challenges asks you to survive fire damage in Fortnite matches and this guide will show you how.

The Doctor Doom quests can be tracked via a dedicated section of the Quests tab which is accessible from the main lobby. There are 12 quests in total and the majority of them are self explanatory. However, taking fire damage isn’t something that happens often in Fortnite. Not on purpose, at least.

How to survive fire damage in Fortnite

The best way to survive fire damage is to visit any gas station on the Fortnite map and blow up a gas pump. This can be done with your pickaxe tool or bullets, but make sure you distance yourself from the gas pump before it explodes.

Then, simply walk into the fire that the explosion leaves behind. Make sure you survive being ignited, as this is the requirement of the quest. Luckily, fire damage doesn’t hit your health too hard, but you’ll want some healing items on hand to ensure you can get back up to scratch when the challenge is complete.

Another method is to destroy a car and sit in it or stand close by it while it explodes. However, this may take more time and effort, while disabling a vehicle that could prove to be a valuable asset in securing the victory royale.

The process must be completed four times before the challenge is marked as complete. For your efforts, you’ll bank yourself 20,000 XP and earn a Doctor Doom cosmetic.
