The fight against the Infernal Eikon happens during a pivotal moment of Final Fantasy 16. In it, Clive must figure out who the second fire Eikon, Ifrit, is which is a truth that’s a bit difficult for him to swallow. The fight against the Eikon is difficult, so prepare for a tough fight once you’ve reached the moment in the story.
Luckily, the Infernal Eikon is taken down in the same way as the rest of the bosses in Final Fantasy 16: by hitting them with your sword a ton until they bite it. Unfortunately, the Eikon won’t make that as easy as it sounds on paper.
Here’s everything you need to know about how to beat the Infernal Eikon boss fight in Final Fantasy 16.

How to Beat the Infernal Eikon Boss Fight
As mentioned above, beating the Infernal Eikon is relatively simple since all you’ll need to do is avoid its attacks and launch counter-attacks of your own, however, that’s far easier said than done. Luckily, the Eikon has a relatively limited move pool, but that just means that when it hits you, it’ll take out a large portion of your health bar, so you’ll need to be careful.
Additionally, you’ll have three points to lock onto with the boss: its two feet and its head. It’s best to focus on the feet since Clive’s skills are much more suited for close-quarters combat. Switch your approach once you’ve Staggered the boss and focus on the head since you’ll deal much more damage there and when it’s staggered, it’ll drop its head to the ground.
Here is the full list of the Infernal Eikon’s attacks:
Crimson Rush: When using Crimson Rush, Ifrit charges up and then lunges at the player. It’s a pretty slow-moving attack that’s easy to see coming since Ifrit takes such a long time to wind up for it. Dodge through the beast as it moves toward you and follow up with some counterattacks of your own.
Scorched Earth: This attack is very similar to Crimson Rush: Ifrit will slam its hand into the ground and shoot a pillar of fire toward you in a straight line. The flames move quicker than Ifrit does in Crimson Rush, however, so make sure that you’re ready to dodge as soon as Ifrit starts the attack. It’ll usually only use Scorched Earth when at medium to long distance, so you won’t be able to do much in terms of a counterattack when dodging.
Fireball: When at medium to long range, Ifrit will throw a handful of fireballs at you if it’s not using any of its other long-ranged named attacks. These are pretty easy to see coming since Ifrit will wind up before throwing them. Dodge through the fireballs to close the distance and start getting some hits of your own in.
Stomp and other unnamed melee attacks: When you’re close to Ifrit, it’ll try to stomp you with its feet and swipe its arms and tail at you with other melee attacks. These are pretty simple to dodge, however, since they have big windups and because Ifrit moves relatively slowly.
Vulcan Burst: Ifrit will use Vulcan Burst when you’re close to it. To avoid it, all you’ll need to do is run out of the AoE marked circle in the ground that appears as Ifrit gears up to use the attack. You won’t be able to attack the boss with your sword as you run to safety, but you can cast simple magic spells to deal chip damage. This is a great attack to get some big damage in after Ifrit casts it since the boss will take a few seconds after the explosion to get back on its feet.
