Delve into the deep underground in Chapter 5: Yamantau — we’re continuing our collectibles guide for Metro Exodus, tracking down all the hidden postcards and diary entries. There are a total of eight collectibles in this shorter chapter, which is a nice change of pace after all that lengthy exploration on The Volga. This is a must more linear chapter, so it’s a lot easier to locate all the collectibles — you might even find a few.
Metro Exodus features two types of ‘chapters’ — linear chapters that are similar to the previous games in the series, and more expansive, open-ended chapters where you’re free to explore the blighted landscape. You’ll still need to scavenge for resources, but in chapters like this, you’ll find plenty of ammo off bodies or in storage. In chapters like ‘The Volga’, it’s pretty easy to completely run dry. Not so in this chapter. Check out all the locations below.

There are two types of collectibles in Metro Exodus; diary pages and postcards.
Find all 70 diary pages and all 21 postcards to unlock the ‘Librarian‘ and ‘Old World Pictures‘ achievements / trophies.
- Diary #25: Ride the elevator up, and turn left just as you exit. There’s a table with a phone and a diary page.
- Postcard #8: Deeper into the facility, squeeze through a narrow passage past a frozen hallway, and you’ll reach a power box you’ll need to charge. To the left of the power box, there’s a passage through some crates. There’s a postcard on the target straight ahead.
- Diary #26: In the same area as the postcard, there’s a diary in the back-left corner of the optional area.
- Diary #27: Through a flooded hallway, you’ll enter a passage with red lights. At the end of the hall, there’s a pipe you’ll need to crawl through. Before you do, go right and climb up the wooden platform, and up the box. Drop down and stick to the raised path to reach a small room with a crate. There’s a diary page on that crate.
- Diary #28: After fighting through the minigunner, you’ll enter a hall with cells on the left and right. Enter the first open door on the right and you’ll find a diary page inside.
- Postcard #9: In the room where you rescue Anna, you’ll find the postcard to the left of the door she leaves through.
- Diary #29: After rescuing Anna, she’ll open the doors to a hallway leading to an elevator. To the left of the elevator, look on the barrel to get a diary.
- Diary #30: Near the end of the mission, you’ll enter a large chamber marked with “A4” — as you enter, look on the left side for a crate with the last diary page.
