Resident Evil 7: How To Upgrade Your Inventory | All Backpack Locations

January 26, 2017 by Kevin Thielenhaus

On PC, PS4 & Xbox One: Increase your limited inventory with even more slots with these rare (and entirely missable) backpack upgrades.

There’s never enough space for items in Resident Evil 7. That’s a running theme of the series, most prominent in the early entries, and item management makes a big comeback in this latest survival-horror adventure. You start with twelve item slots, but key items, ammo, and weapons all add up fast. As you progress, you’ll find larger weapons, more gear, and more reasons to upgrade your meager backpack.

Luckily, there are three opportunities to expand your carrying capacity. Special hidden backpacks, when found, give your character a permanent +4 item slots to their inventory. That’s +4 each, and these backpacks do stack. One of the packs is hard to miss, but the other two are easily skipped if you’re not being careful. The last one is practically hidden.

Backpacks are special rare items that increase your inventory by 4 spaces. This is a permanent upgrade, so getting these items ASAP should be high priority. You can get a total of 8 extra inventory spaces.
