In Civilization 7, you will be faced with an abundance of choices that will dictate how your campaign plays out. One of the most influential courses of action you will take is selecting which advisor you are going to follow in Civilization 7.
Coinciding with each victory type is an advisor that will help you get there. At the start of each Age, you will select an advisor that gives you a series of tasks that will see you progress down a Legacy Path. New tasks will unlock as you make your way through the requirements and the Ages. Completing a Legacy Path in the Modern Age is what will win you the game.

Play to win
In Civilization 7, there are four advisors:
- Economic
- Military
- Cultural
- Science
The Legacy you choose in the Antiquity Age is the most important, as it plays a role in how you progress through all three Ages. With that said, we would recommend selecting the Science advisor in the Antiquity Age because the buildings you will place down by following this Legacy Path will get your empire off to a strong start when it comes to advancing through the tech trees and pumping out units in your Cities.
Although completing the tasks assigned by your advisor will keep your empire on the right track for growth and meeting a Legacy Path, you don’t have to stick with the advisor you choose. Civilization 7 is volatile and as circumstances change, so can your objectives. If you want to switch focus and go down another Legacy Path, you can click the Age progression trophy icon and see how to progress the objectives associated with the other win conditions.
The Age progression tab also allows you to see how far other players in the game are through each Legacy Path. This is particularly useful to keep tabs on in the Modern Age, letting you know if you need to step in and prevent another civilization from snagging the victory.
Now you know how advisors work, you can guide your Civilization 7 empire towards glory.
