Modern Warfare 3: What is Demolition Mode?

June 4, 2024 by Lauren Sayles

And it went boom.

The launch of MW3 and Warzone Season 4 saw the debut of a whole host of new content. From hard hitting weapons, to 6v6 maps, and game modes, there’s plenty for multiplayer fans to do. If a tactical playstyle is your preferred combat approach, then there’s a mode just for you. It goes by the name of Demolition and we have all the details on what it entails, so you know exactly what you’re getting yourself into the next time you play MW3.

Demolition first landed in Modern Warfare 2 in 2009 and last appeared in Modern Warfare 2019, so fans of the mode have been waiting a long time to revisit it once again. The mode in MW3 has stayed true to its original ruleset, so veterans may already know what to expect to see.

How to play Demolition in MW3

The mode is inspired by Search and Destroy and both sides will alternate between attacking and defending two bomb sites. The main differences are the fact that respawns are enabled and both bomb sites are active at the same time. In addition, defusing a bomb doesn’t end the round, but produces more engagements.

To win a round of Demolition as the attacking team, destroy both bomb sites before the timer ends. Take out one of the sites to add extra time to the game clock, allowing you to put all your focus on the second bomb site. Claim victory in defending rounds by protecting one or both bomb sites until the timer ends. If a bomb is planted, the match timer pauses and defusing the bomb becomes the priority.

It’s unknown how long Demolition will stick around for in MW3 since playlist updates are always happening. For now, you can hop into one of the most tactical modes in multiplayer!
