Dead Island 2: Fool’s Gold Quest Guide | Lost & Found Quest

May 4, 2023 by Peter Hunt Szpytek

Basically pirate treasure.

While there are plenty of excellent quests for players to sink their teeth into in Dead Island 2, the Lost & Found quests are some of the best in the game since they give players access to some of the most valuable weapons that Dead Island 2 offers.

The Fool’s Gold quest takes players on a tour of The Pier district and results in getting a legendary weapon that’s absolutely worth the time it takes to hunt down the paper trail that leads to its discovery.

Here’s how to complete the Fool’s Gold quest in Dead Island 2.

Fool’s Gold Walkthrough

To start the Fool’s Gold quest, you’ll need to have finished the Boardwalking Dead main quest. With it completed, return to the Pier safehouse and kill the Crusher apex zombie that’s hanging around outside it named Dante. Once dead, Dante will drop a note called “A Totally Legit Letter.”

The letter will say that someone named Randy couldn’t fit their “retirement fund” into Dante’s locker, so it’s stashed in his. Loot the lockers to the left of the door that leads to the safehouse area and you’ll get the note titled “Deep Shit.”

The note says that the safe is outside Lifeguard HQ, however, only half of the code is on the note. To get the other half, you’ll need to track down two zombies: J and B. The note says to head to the alleys outside the frozen yogurt stores. Head to the northmost section of the area marked on the map:

In the alley, fight off the zombies and then grab the phone on the ground titled “Flaws in the Plan.” The note will have two of the combination numbers on it.

With the first half of the remaining code, head down to the end of the pier in search of an ice cream shop near the ferris wheel. Its location is marked on the map below:

Behind the shop, you’ll find the final piece of the combination on a phone. Return to the beach safehouse. On the east side buried in the sand is a safe that you now have all the numbers for the combination to. Open it after taking out the zombies in the area and you’ll be rewarded with some solid loot including the Blood Rage legendary military knife.
