The Division 2: Summon A Secret Metal Gear Beekeeper Boss In This Undiscovered Easter Egg

October 4, 2019 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Take on ‘The Pain’ in this MGS-inspired secret boss Easter egg, hidden in The Division 2.

Basically, the secret boss is this.

Metal Gear Solid meets The Division 2 in this weird — and weirdly elusive — Easter egg. It’s all about a secret boss that nobody could find in Title Update 5. The developers only recently hinted at the location, spurring the hungry community to finally track down this secret boss after two months of searching.

The boss itself is a riff on The Pain, a bee-shooting boss from the classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Instead of The Pain, you’ll be able to summon The Agony, a yellow-suited bee-keeper with a nasty chip on his shoulder. He summons his own ‘bees’ to strike, and uses a massive rocket launcher as a stand-in for a grenade launcher used by The Pain. Check out this lummox below, and see how to summon him.

How To Summon ‘The Agony’ | Secret Boss Guide

This ridiculous bad guy in a Contamination Suit — suspiciously similar to a Beekeeper suit — can be summoned in the end-game Manning National Zoo mission. To reach this mission, go to the Pilot in the White House Base of Operations and select the ‘Manning National Zoo’ Offsite Main Mission.

In the mission itself, you’ll need to find and shoot five beehives. After blasting the hives, you’ll need to find the Western Honeybee Enclosure area near the Butterfly Exhibit and use the previously unusable panel — it’s all in a large section of the map that’s seemingly pointless before reaching the Monorail station.

Look for large beehive containers. Shoot the glass off and blast the hives inside a little bit to get the bees stirring.

  • Beehive Container Locations:
    1. Near the entrance into the large, empty Exhibit area. To the right of the seating area.
    2. On the upper area of the Wolf Exhibit. Take the stairs / ramp up to the viewing platform.
    3. Outside the Ocelot Exhibit, up the path left of the entrance.
    4. Outside the Honeybee Exhibit, next to the stairs.
    5. In the maintenance area to the left of the Monorail Entrance, behind a cart and some boxes.

Following these steps summons a boss called The Agony. This isn’t just a weird Easter egg, this is clearly a reference to The Pain — a bee-shooting boss from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.

Sadly, this weird boss doesn’t really drop anything special. He’s still worth checking out! He’s armed with a rocket launcher and tosses Stinger Hives that shoot bee-like projectiles.
