Monster Hunter: World – How To Unlock All Camp Sites | Locations Guide

February 5, 2018 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Unlock more fast travel points and speed up expeditions with these extra camps found in all five of Monster Hunter: World’s massive zones.

Camps are the one place you can rest, restock, and chow down while out on an expedition in Monster Hunter: World. The jungles, deserts, and underground caverns you explore are full of large monsters — and they’re also full of little secrets. You can actually uncover additional camp sites in each of the exploration zones just by finding them.

That makes it sound easier than it is. Finding these hidden locations can be tricky. Sometimes they’re located in sections of the map you might not even realize you can reach — other times, you’ll have to keep one eye open for tiny crawlspaces that lead into enclosed areas perfect for camping in safety. If you’re looking for up to four additional camps in each area, check out the locations below.

How To Unlock All Camp Sites | Locations Guide

Camps are locations on the exploration maps where your hunter can collect items, change equipment, order food, or start quests on-the-go. They’re exceedingly useful, and the more camp sites you unlock, the less time you’ll have to spend trekking across the large environments. Here are all the camps, presented (generally) in the order of difficulty.

All camps follow a similar pattern to unlock. They’re either assignments you can’t miss and are required to progress the story, or you’ll have to find the hidden location yourself. Finding the location will unlock a delivery quest in Astera. Retrieve the materials and you’ll unlock the camp.

Ancient Forest

  • Southwest Camp: Area 1 – Automatically unlocks. First location you’ll reach.
  • Northeast Camp: Area 11 – Automatically unlocks as you progress the story. Complete the first Resource Center delivery quest.
  • Northwest Camp: Area 8 – Crawl through the small hole in the northeast corner of the Area 8 map, then complete the ‘Setting Up Camp’ delivery quest.
  • Ancient Forest Camp: Area 17 – Ride the flying birds up or climb through the interior of the giant tree in the center to reach the high branches. When you reach high up in Area 17, move to the northeast corner of the traversable branches / vines. Complete the delivery quest to unlock.

Wildspire Waste

  • Southwest Camp: Area 1 – Automatically unlocks. First location you’ll reach.
  • Eastern Camp: Area 11 – Another automatic story unlock. Find it in a crawlspace along the eastern rock wall of the narrow Area 11 map. Found deep underground.
  • Central Camp: Area 6 – Found through a narrow hidden path in the southeastern edge of Area 6. There’s a cave path next to vines leading up. Drop down and follow the path to discover the camp. Complete the Wildspire Waste delivery quest.
  • Northeast Camp: Area 15 – Near the giant spiked wildspire, look at the base of the giant rock mountain in the northwest corner of the map. There’s a hole with ants crawling out of it that leads down to a cat tribe area — drop into the hole to find a hidden camp area. Complete the Wildspire Waste delivery quest.

Coral Highlands

  • Southern Camp: Area 1 – Automatic unlock. First location you’ll reach.
  • Northeast Camp: Area 12 – Look for a small crawlspace in the rock wall along the eastern side of Area 12. Inside the tiny hole, there’s a cave with a camp. Complete the Coral Highlands delivery quest.

Rotten Vale

  • Southeast Camp: Area 1 – Automatic unlock. First location you’ll reach.
  • Central Camp: Area 11 – Another automatic unlock. Continue to complete story assignments.

Elder’s Recess

  • Southern Camp: Area 1 – Automatic unlock. First location you’ll reach.
  • Eastern Camp: Area 8 – Where Area 4 and Area 3 meet, look for a crawlspace in the rock on the southern face. It leads into a hidden underground area with a camp. Complete the delivery quest to unlock.
  • Northwest Camp: Area 16 – The hardest camp to unlock. You’ll need to complete the Level 8 quest to defeat Nergigante first. After that, enter the southwestern cave entrance in Area 14. It leads to an underground camp. Find it and complete the delivery quest.
