Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Water Temple Walkthrough
The first thing to do is walk up to the altar and touch it to get a fast travel point and instructions on how to solve the dungeon. This time around, there are four water locks that you need to use Sidon’s ability to activate strewn across this floating island dungeon. Here’s where to find each of them.
Water Temple Lock #1
The easiest lock to get to first is the one in the dungeon’s basement. Jump off the western ledge of the main platform and glide down to a set of stairs leading to a path blocked by fire. Use Sidon’s ability to bypass the fire and enter the room with the lock. You need to place a ball in an adjacent hole in the wall to open up the lock room, though. Before you proceed grab a floating platform and place it on the switch near the flame door to permanently clear the doorway of the hazard, allowing Sidon in.
So, go into the next room and below you will see a ball across a spike pit. You can actually use gravity to your advantage here to cross this gap in one leap. Now, grab the ball with Ultrahand and attach it to one of floating Zonai platforms nearby. Place it so that you can climb up the ledge to the room with the lock and still grab the ball. Unattach it from the platform and place it in the hole in the wall. Hold it here for maybe 10 seconds, then let it fall and use recall. This will create a small opened wherin you can use Sidon’s ability to open up this first lock.
Water Temple Lock #2
Head to the floating islands off the southwest of the main platform. There will be some powerful Constructs here to fight. You can also clear away the muck from the waterfalls here to get a chest with a Zoanite Shield in it. Afterwards, look for a bubble maker that is covered in muck. Clean it and this will create bubbles that can carry you upwards to the next platform.
Before you hop in one yourself, grab the nearby sphere from the water feature its sitting in. Place it in a bubble. When the bubble pops, your sphere will be in the exact place it needs to be. Move yourself up to the next platform and go over to the gate. By using Ultrahand to pull it up, you can drain all the water from the reservoir. This will cause the ball to fall in its proper hole, if you have followed the instructions thus far. If it’s slightly off, you now know where to move it for next time you drain the pool. This will open the previously submerged door that holds the water lock.
You won’t have enough time to do this before the reservoir starts filling up again, so use recall right after it starts to fill up to buy yourself more empty pool time. Make use of this window to use Sidon’s ability to spin up this second lock.
Water Temple Lock #3
Head to the northeast section of the main platform and look up for a bit of muck that is block a waterfall from flowing. Shoot it with a Splash Fruit arrow and then hop across and up the waterfall to access the section where this lock is hidden. To get up to the lock room you have to use recall on the bubble maker that is shooting down from overhead.
Now, run over to the other side of this island and look at the water wheel. Take the two slabs sitting beneath it and attach them to opposite sides of the wheel in order to create perpetual motion. This will cause the nearby electrical line to light up. Grab the conspicuously placed bubble from right behind this line to connect the powered line to the inactive electric line. Place it between the two lines to transfer the charge over and voila, the gate will open. you can now go and activate that lock using your good buddy Sidon’s power.
Water Temple Lock #4
Instead of going back to the main platform after the third lock, go past where the water wheel, to the south, and jump and glide over the next island. Here, the puzzle to open the fourth lock’s gate is waiting for you… after you take out some Constructs, that is.
In this area, is a giant spinning tower with an opening filled with muck. You are going to need use the bow’s slow motion jump in order to slow down time and aim a water arrow up there. This will reveal a glowing orange switch. Repeat the technique with a regular arrow to unlock the gate to the lock room. From here, just activate the water lock with Sidon and you will be ready to move on to the dungeon’s boss.
How to Beat Muctorock, Water Temple Boss In Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Muctorock is an annoying one. It’s just a little guy in form, but it will take on the shape of a shark covered in mud and raining down muck on the battle field. You are going to want to make ample use of Sidon’s ability to both shield yourself from incoming muck attacks and to destroy Muctorock’s shark form.
Gravity is low so use that to avoid the ground attacks that Muctorock sends your way — one is a beam, the other a wave of projectiles, but both can be avoided by staying airborne.
When you get your hits in and transform the boss to its original form, target it with an arrow to stun it and keep it from running away. This way you can get in close and make ample use of that time to deal massive damage. Remember that with Sidon at your side, any Zora weapon has boosted damage.
This will take you to phase two of the boss fight, where Muctorock really goes ham on the muck rain. Avoid it and throw Splash Fruit to clear paths and try to keep using the same strategy as in phase one. However, instead of shooting the boss with regular arrows after cleaning him up, we used Keese arrows instead since the Muctorock gets so wriggly and hard to pin down. Rinse and repeat this process and you will have compelted the Water Temple in no time.
Thus ends the “Sidon of the Zora” quest in Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. You are rewarded with a heart container and the use of Sidon’s ability whenever you please.
