In today’s day and age, multiplayer games are predominantly played online. However, nothing compares to inviting a friend over to play together. Before you decide whether or not MW3 multiplayer is the game you’re going to play, you need to know if there is split screen.
Throughout Call of Duty history, Activision has implemented split screen in their games. It allows two people to play a game using separate controllers, but on the same device. This can result in some hilarious and competitive moments, especially when you’re battling it out on a game like MW3.

How to play split screen on MW3 multiplayer
MW3 does have split screen and here is how you can get it set up:
- Connect a second controller to your device
- Assign a profile and link an Activision account to the second controller
- Follow the prompt for the split screen option that pops up on the top right corner of your screen
- Select multiplayer and load into a match
It’s worth noting that not all game modes support split screen capabilities. Free For All isn’t available while playing split screen, but if you want to go head to head with your friend, you can always take it into a private match. Additionally, playlists that support a large player count such as Invasion and Ground War can’t be played while in split screen.
If you’re hoping to slay the undead beside your friend, you’re out of luck. Zombies doesn’t have a split screen option and must be played on separate devices with an internet connection.
Now you know how to play MW3 split screen, enjoy some traditional couch co-op with your buddy!
