After completing Mission 36: Take the Uninhabited Floating City in Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, you are faced with the choice of aiding either “Cinder” Carla in her goal of destroying the Coral or stopping the destruction of the Coral with Ayre. You will be forced between the Decisions Missions Mission 37-A: Intercept the Corporate Forces and Mission 37-B: Eliminate “Cinder” Carla. If you choose to aid Carla, allow me to help you learn how to fight off The Arquebus Group’s assault on the flying city of Xyelm. Intercept The Corporate Forces Walkthrough In Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon
NOTE: THIS IS A DECISION MISSION. IF YOU SELECT THIS MISSION, YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO PLAY MISSION 37-B: ELIMINATE “CINDER” CARLA UNTIL NEW GAME+. THIS MISSION WILL ALSO LOCK YOU INTO THE FIRES OF RAVEN ENDING.
At mission start, you will be overlooking a section of the city of Xylem where battles with the Arqebus Group have already begun. Instead of heading down to street level immediately, head to the top of the glass roof marked in the first image below. Once here, you will be attacked by an Arqubus Heavy Calvary unit that carries a Silver Combat Log. Defeat this enemy to get the log and then progress through the mission.
Make your way through the streets of Xylem, supporting Carla’s mechs along the way and eliminating Arquebus soldiers. As you cut through the enemy forces, you will eventually reach a dome structure that you can go inside. You will come face-to-face against a Heavy Calvary enemy. Defeat this enemy to unlock the door and progress further into the mission.
Once out of the dome and through a small tunnel, you will rendezvous with Carla’s assistant, “Chatty” Stick. Working alongside him, clear out this area of enemy forces.
After the area is secure, V.I Freud, the top member of The Arquebus Group’s Vesper Squad will arrive. Before you have a chance to do anything, Freud will kill “Chatty” Stick and leave you in a one-on-one battle. Freud isn’t using anything notable in terms of equipment with many of his weapons and parts being things that you would have unlocked very early in the game. In fact, he uses the default RF-024 TURNER Assault Rifle and the Vvc-770LB unlocked after Mission 8: Operation Wallclimber, both Chapter 1 weapons. The rest of his body is also made up of early game parts and he doesn’t have too much health. While his SB-033M MORLEY Spread Bazooka can pack a punch if you are hit by it and his Vvc-700LD Laser Drones can be a bit annoying to dodge, there isn’t anything that makes Freud any different from all the other AC pilots you’ve fought to this point.
I suggest using the SG-027 ZIMMERMAN Shotgun to quickly build his ACS meter and then hitting him with the PB-033M ASHMEAD Pile Bunker when he is staggered to deal massive Direct Hit damage. A fully charged Pile Bunker should do around 50%-60% on Freud so it is possible that a single stagger is all you need to take this pilot down.
Once V.I Freud is defeated, Mission 37-A: Intercept the Corporate Forces will be complete!
