Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth includes one of the most elaborate side-quests in any JRPG we’ve played – an entire resort simulator. Actually, this weird activity is closer to Animal Crossing than anything else, giving you an island to explore and expand. And unlock Animal Crossing, there’s a management element to this whole thing. Instead of enjoying a chill island getaway, you’ll have to deal with angry pirates and unhappy guests. If you’re struggling to progress and earn all five stars on Dondoko Island, we’ve got tips for every step of the quest. Here’s how to create your very own 5-Star Resort.
Dondoko Island begins early in Chapter 6 and the entire side-quest can be completed in this chapter. There’s nothing stopping you from playing for 10 hours and finishing the whole thing. Dondoko Island is also the best way to earn cash in the game, especially this early – if you want an incentive to play, you’ll earn 100,000 dollars for unlocking the 5-Star Resort. Grab your bat and let’s start hitting rocks. Here’s how to turn the island dump into a gleaming money-making machine.

Step #1: 1-Star Resort
To earn your first star, focus on clearing out junk piles daily and building random Do-It-Yourself projects to level up your Building Skill. Build the Market Stall and other objects with high Satisfaction scores. The higher the satisfaction the better! Build and place these while completing daily jobs to earn Dokobucks.
You’ll need the Dokobucks to clean up the junk areas. By clearing out the Entrance and Great Tree areas, you’ll slowly fill a meter that makes the area cheaper to clean out. Keep cleaning these areas until they are A or S rank for the cheapest possible cleaning.
Search the beaches for materials. There are three Do-It-Yourself Blueprints in bottles to find at the two beaches. Collect bugs, sea treasures, and fish. Doing these tasks will build up your popularity. Things are very simple at this stage, so keep grinding until you have enough money to clear out the areas. Get certified for a 100,000 Dokobucks reward and 10,000 dollars.
Step #2: 2-Star Resort
With a 1-Star Resort, you can now invite guests. Guests will spend money at the resort, giving you instant boosts to your Dokobucks. Purchase Guest Lodgings from Kenzo in the main shop – always buy the best possible Lodgings you can. Right now, that’s the Simple Tent for 50,000 Dokobucks. Buy one and place it.
Guests have requirements when they arrive. While there are many different requirements, pleasing a guest is actually very simple. If you build the best lodgings you can and place buildings to boost the Satisfaction while decorating your island with as many small random DIY projects as possible, you’ll please almost every guest. You’ll also want to collect random bugs, fish and treasures from collection spots. Keep at least one of everything. As long as you have one of the items a guest wants to see, it will count toward their wants.
Guests will stay for three days. During this time, emote at them and give them presents. The best and easiest presents to give at this stage are Silver or Gold variants of bugs or mushrooms. Keep a few to show and sell the rest. At this stage, you can also craft souvenirs. These are helpful for pleasing a tricky guest. But it is rarely required.
Note: This is also a good time to upgrade. Upgrade your bat first to make combat easier and smash more junk piles. The bat should always be your first upgrade priority. Really, you only need to upgrade the other two tools once each. The bat is the only tool that should be upgraded at least twice.
Finally, you’ll want to purchase the Small Burnable Waste Dump, the Small Nonburnable Waste Dump, the Woodworking Area and the Stoneworking Area as soon as possible. These facilities are purchased from the exclusives menu of the main shop. You can purchase five maximum and they increase your daily Collection Area materials. Do this as soon as possible!
For earning the next star, you’ll get 200,000 Dokobucks and $30,000 USD.
Step #3: 3-Star Resort
The 2-Star Resort unlocks Dondoko Farm. This powerful facility should be running constantly. You’ll need at least three Sujimon to run all three main facilities, but I recommend bringing even more – and always run the facilities at maximum. Choose the longest possible project for the biggest rewards, and you won’t need to keep coming back. Assign Sujimon that match the task type for biggest rewards. You can earn 200,000 Dokobucks per hour, extra vegetables for crafting souvenirs, and huge bonus stockpiles of resources. Always keep these facilities running.
The farm facilities have a chance to give you a huge bonus payout. Assign Sujimon of the matching type and improve your bond with them. To improve bond, emote at the Sujimon and interact with the leader to complete a goofy rubbing minigame. Give your Sujimon headpats to boost your bond and make them more effective. If you keep using the same Sujimon, they’ll be maximum bond and giving you consistent bonuses by the end of your time with Dondoko Island.
Dondoko Farm is also a treasure trove of junk. Harvest the gold junk piles and collect the stacks of sea treasures, mining sites, and catch fish or bugs. Collect the mining sites daily and make sure to keep any Gold Ore, Platinum Ore, Pearls or Diamonds. You’ll need these for high level Do-It-Yourself projects in the future. Sell everything else!
Purchase the Sturdy Wooden Shack from Kenzo and place it. The C-Rank Lodging is the best possible you can get right now – don’t forget that guests will spend money at buildings with a DOKOBUCKS UP status in the description. Place money-making buildings around lodgings for a constant influx of extra dokobucks.
Build the bridge on the east beach behind your house to unlock the Fields area. Do this first because there’s another junk area you’ll need to grind until it’s cheap enough to clear out. Don’t forget to use Dondoko Farms and the Workshop to earn 300,000 Dokobucks for the 60 minute mastercrafting project. This will easily reimburse you for the cost of the bridge. Each bridge costs 200,000 Dokobucks.
Now that we’re deep into Dondoko Island, I also recommend using all the Dokobucks you’re earning to purchase all the Woodworking and Stoneworking areas you can. Buy and place five of each – now you’ll be earning so much wood and stone that there’s no reason to farm it on the island anymore.
Next, purchase the bridge to the Lake Island. The island is another treasure trove of daily items – but the easiest to miss item is the Gold Shark. The fishing spot on the Lake bridge often has a Gold Shark spawn. Look for a really large and really fast fish. Check here daily. This fish sells for a huge 70,000 Dokobucks bounty.
Unlock and clear both the Fields and the Lake to get a 3-Star Resort. You’ll earn 300,000 Dokobucks and $50,000 USD for your personal funds.
Step #4: 4-Star Resort
We’re almost at the end. Don’t waste your money purchasing A-Rank Lodgings. Just save up and get the S-Rank Lodging for 500,000 Dokobucks. You only need one for now, but later we’ll want to swap all the lodgings for S-Rank to earn maximum profits. For now, you won’t get enough guests to fill them so one is plenty.
You can also attract more guests using Local TV Station ads. Talk to the Souvenir Kid to purchase an ad for 100,000 Dokobucks. This ad lasts until the end of your guest visiting period or the end of the day if you have no guests. After buying one ad, you’ll unlock a more expensive ad. The more expensive ad is the only one that matters. The online ad option costs 200,000 Dokobucks but attracts A and S ranked guests. These are the guests that make us the most money.
Note: The Caves and the Forest are the final two areas of the island to unlock. I recommend buying the third baseball bat upgrade to make fighting these enemies easier. You’ll also want to place random stuff in your house to give Ichiban more health. You don’t need to make your house interior beautiful – any junk will do. Just fill it with as much stuff as possible to give yourself a health boost.
Check Dondoko Farm, Lighthouse, Hills, Lake and your two latest areas for ore deposits daily. These often drop Diamond Ore, Platinum Ore or Gold Ore. Also scour the beaches for treasures to collect Pearls. You’ll need these resources to build the Traditional Japanese Building and the Cabaret. These buildings give you a huge boost in Satisfaction and can easily push you into S-Rank Satisfaction. You’ll unlock the blueprints for both as you level up your Building Skill.
The Traditional Japanese Building gives +7000 Satisfaction, while the Cabaret gives +9000 Satisfaction. Build these and you’ll be far, far above the requirements. If you’ve been fishing, catching bugs, collecting treasures and more while doing dailies your Popularity will be far, far above the requirement already. But if you need more Popularity fast, purchase new ads daily. Purchasing an ad gives you an instant Popularity boost.
And finally you’ll want to buy all the resource buildings you can get. Get 5 of all the Woodworking, Stoneworking and garbage dump areas. Get as many as you can and place a dedicated farm of garden areas for easy infinite souvenirs. If you build the Large Chicken Coop, you’ll also often get daily Silver and Gold Eggs. Just sell them! At this stage, you’ll want infinite daily resources from the Collection Area.
Reach the 4-Star Rank requirements to earn 500,000 Dokobucks. You’ll also get $100,000 USD for Kasuga. Now we’re really rolling in it.
Step #5: 5-Star Resort
This is the final stage. If you’ve been following our recommendations, doing your dailies and building high Satisfaction buildings, completing the 5-Star Requirements is actually incredibly easy. Just build the highest satisfaction buildings on your new plots of land, purchase ads to get more Popularity if you need it. Talk to Matayoshi once the Popularity and Satisfaction requirements are complete, and the Dread Pirate Hook will challenge you.
If you haven’t already, build the Traditional Japanese Building and the Cabaret. The Cabaret gives 9121 Satisfaction, which should skyrocket you above the requirements. You’ll need Raw Diamond Ore and Raw Platinum Ore to build the Cabaret. Ore is found from rocky deposits that respawn daily on the Lake island, Dondoko Farm, and the north area of the island.
You can now place a total of five lodgings. Lodgings aren’t that important unless you really want more money – and if you aren’t running ads with the Souvenir Kid, you won’t have enough guests to fill all five. Save the Lodgings for after. What we really want is the Garbage Sorting Area. Buy the maximum of this new facility to increase the resources you get for all types. All you need to do is craft better and better stuff.
When you’re ready, talk to the Dread Pirate Hook. He’s actually relatively easy to defeat – as long as you’ve upgraded your bat. I recommend reaching upgrade level 3 for your bat before entering this fight. You can also craft souvenirs to heal in battle. This is such a rarely required feature, you might forget it even exists. But any souvenir can be opened in the menu and eaten to heal Ichiban.
During the fight with Hook, run around and dodge through enemies. Try to separate them, staying out of crowds and targeted enemies alone. Just use your normal swings to stunlock them instead of the charged swing. Hit and dodge away to avoid getting ganged up on. Take down the weakest enemies first, moving up the foodchain until Hook is the last guy left. If you do that, this fight won’t be a problem.
Defeating Hook will complete the quest and earn you 1 million Dokobucks. You’ll also get a cool 300,00 dollars in your bank account. Completing the quest also unlocks the powerful Essence of Dondoko Beam attack, which allows you to activate a branded space laser to blast groups of enemies. The extreme damage attack costs 100 MP to cast.
For completing the quest, you’ll earn the ‘Dondoko Denouement’ achievement. Congratulations! Even better, now that we’re done with the main quest, we can now focus on earning money. Talk to the dolphin and you can convert up to 5 million Dokobucks a day. That’s 50,000 dollars. And it’s totally possible to earn once you invite more S-Rank guests. If you’re looking to farm money, Dondoko Island is one of the best ways.
