Fortnite: All Weapon Changes in Chapter 5 Season 1 | v28.10 Update

January 23, 2024 by Lauren Sayles

Significant changes to the weapon pool.

A fresh Fortnite update is live on all platforms, introducing Solid Snake from the Metal Gear series to the battle royale and adding new items to the loot pool. At the same time, significant weapon changes have been deployed across all Fortnite battle royale modes. It’s safe to say that weapon balancing has been in high demand since the debut of Chapter 5 back in December, 2023. After a long wait, player concerns have been answered and you can find the full details of the patch, below.

The key features of this patch include the Enforcer assault rifle and Hyper submachine receiving some much needed improvements. This should allow them to compete with other options in the weapon pool more effectively. On the other side, the overpowered Ballistic Shield has been hit with a nerf and Storm behavior has also been reverted.

Weapon changes featuring in Fortnite v28.10

Here are the full details of the Chapter 5 Season 1 weapon tuning patch:

  • The Enforcer AR has received a slight increase in bullet speed, damage, and headshot damage (and a reduction in bullet drop)
  • The Reaper Sniper Rifle has received a slight reduction in bullet speed (and an increase in bullet drop)
  • The Hyper SMG has received an increase in overall accuracy via tightened bullet spread
  • The Ballistic Shield has received a slight decrease in damage required to stagger the holder
  • Storm circle speed, sprint speed, and energy regeneration have been reverted to match the same speed from Chapter 4

Only time will tell how effective the list of buffs and nerfs will be, but it’s promising to see that the most important weapon issues have been addressed. Epic Games promises to continue to balance the battlefield if community feedback and their gameplay data allows.
