Microsoft has been doing monthly streams all about the Xbox brand and this month, July of 2020, we are getting a stream dedicated to video game titles releasing for the Xbox Series X. We imagine there will be some great first-party reveals along with some new video game announcements. One of the games we’re sure more than a few are eager to see is Halo Infinite as last year’s E3 we only got a cinematic trailer with gameplay promised for E3 2020.
This event will happen at 12 PM EST which you can view the video stream embedded above. Afterwards, we’ll update this post with a quick recap of all the content unveiled.
We finally get a look at Halo Infinite gameplay. The demo picks up what seems shortly after the E3 2019 trailer cinematic and as expected Master Chief is going on to finish the war. Interestingly enough, this looks like it will be an open-world type of experience. There does look to be some new weapons and even some abilities for players to make use of such as a grapple system or enemies losing their armor after getting hit with a series of gunshots. So far a multiplayer component is set to be unveiled in the coming months.
The state of Decay franchise has two mainline installments so far but it looks like a third entry is in the works. We only got a cinematic trailer to check out the announcement so far, which looks like the virus will play a big role in wildlife. We’re certainly interested in seeing just how much of a difference this game acts compared to the previously launched State of Decay 2.
The Forza Motorsport franchise will be represented on the Xbox Series X. We got a look at a new trailer for those that enjoy the racing series and just like with all the other games on this list, you’ll get access to the title at launch with the Xbox Game Pass.
Everwild
Rare has a new game in the works which is set in a fantasy world that has a focus around nature and wildlife bonds. It looks like it will be an adventure game with a mix of magic and sorcery to call upon gods. Of course, that is speculation right now as we’ll have to wait a bit more to see how this game shapes up.
Dontnod Entertainment’s latest game also received a new trailer. This is a story based around two siblings that are forced into going back to their old hometown. With the ability to get visions from their old memories, the duo is hoping to pick up the missing pieces of their troubled life in hopes of figuring out more about their troubled mother. We’re looking at an episodic title with the first chapter set to release on August 7th.
A new enhanced edition of the Ori and the Will of the Wisps is being released for the Xbox Series X. It will be fine-tuned to offer more details and gameplay mechanics that were only possible with the new hardware components of the next-generation Xbox console. So far the title is only slated to release sometime later this year.
The Outer Worlds – Peril on Gorgon
Teased earlier this week, we finally got confirmation that a new DLC is in the works for The Outer Worlds. This first one will be Peril on Gorgon and it’s set to launch on September 9th of this year. However, this is just the first story DLC of two planned for the game so prepare to spend even more time in The Outer Worlds in the coming months.
Obsidian Entertainment showcased a new trailer for Grounded and they really know how to make a fun marketing campaign. This is a game where players get shrunk down to the size of an ant and forced to fight off all sorts of creepy crawlers. While it may not be the big RPG game that the development studios are known for, it should be a nice change of pace for the development studio to try out.
Obsidian Entertainment is keeping busy as they unveiled their next big RPG Experience coming out known as Avowed. We only got a cinematic teaser for the game so we’ll have to wait a bit longer to see this first-person epic.
Interior Night – As Dusk Falls
A new studio is working on a game in partnership with Xbox. This first game is based around a narrative based around a group looking to survive in a world that seems to not have a place for them. We only got a teaser trailer for the title so we’ll have to wait a bit longer to see some gameplay and more details for the title.
Another trailer was unveiled for Psychonauts 2 which mixes gameplay and behind the scenes footage of Jack Black singing a song composed for the game.
Destiny 2
Bungie is making a return to Xbox with launching Destiny 2 for the Xbox Series X which will be optimized for the platform. Furthermore, we will see the game also launch on Xbox Game Pass.
If you remember enjoying Stalker back in the day for the PC platform then get ready for the sequel. We know that Stalker 2 is in development and will be making its way onto the Xbox Series X. Little information was showcased in the trailer so we don’t have a release date quite yet, but at any rate you can catch the first trailer above.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
There is quite a few fans out there that enjoys the Warhammer franchise and the series is not slowing down anytime soon. Today we got the unveiling of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide which is a 4-player co-op action game that will put players into the hive city of Tertium. We won’t see this game actually hit the marketplace until sometime next year, 2021.
Tetris Effect Connected
Tetris Effect has been quite the popular video game since it launched and we’re starting to see its release on multiple platforms. Xbox is finally getting the fun with a new multiplayer game mode, although we’re not sure just how it will work out quite yet as it doesn’t look like its a competitive version of Tetris like the Nintendo Switch Tetris 99, although only time will tell at this point. This title expansion is also not going to be available until sometime in 2021.
The Gunk
The development team behind SteamWorld has a new video game title in the works called The Gunk. It’s a title that will put players into a new adventure set on an alien planet where you’ll have to face against creepy enemies and solve some tough puzzles in order to reveal the secrets of this unusual planet.
A new trailer released for The Medium which offers a creepy look at the nightmare players will be able to endure. At the heart of the story, it looks like players are attempting to solve a murder case but in order to do so, players will have to travel between the human and spirit world. If you’re a fan of Silent Hill or similar psychological horror games then this will likely be a title you won’t want to miss out on when it launches on the Xbox Series X and PC platforms.
Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis
Sega tossed out a new trailer for Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis. The game will release next year in 2021, but will apparently offer a more enhanced and full experience for players to enjoy this action RPG.
We knew that a new take on Crossfire was in the works and today we got a trailer to focus around the campaign. It’s quite the action-packed story players will get to go through as they fight in high-speed car chases, on the ground combat, along with even some traversing through the sky in wingsuits.
The show wrapped up with the highly rumored Fable reboot. We’re apparently going to get a brand new legendary tale to go through with unique locations and creatures. There wasn’t a ton of information released about this title quite yet such as a launch window.
