Resident Evil 2 Remake: Hilarious Mod Adds ‘X Gon’ Give It To Ya’ To Every Chase

One of the best additions to the Resident Evil 2 remake is the Tyrant’s permanent game of cat-and-mouse with the player. This towering opponent appeared in the original game, but only chased Leon or Claire for a few screens before disappearing. Not so with the upgrade Tyrant — he’ll follow you endlessly, searching the Police Station and listening for the sound of your sprint. He’s an incredible AI opponent, one of the best stalkers in any horror game, and modders just made him even better.

Thanks to a new mod by Steam User DJPop, you can listen to ‘X Gon’ Give It To Ya’ by DMX whenever the Tyrant appears. Why? Because Tyrant is also known by another name in the west — Mr. X. When Mr. X appears, he’s going to literally give it to ya’. You can watch the madness in action in the video below — the mod does everything it says it can do.

Find the mod (and installation instructions) here.

Needless to say, this mod isn’t supported by any official parties. Who cares when it’s something this hilarious. With any mod files, it’s best to modify at your own risk.

  • With the mod installed, you’ll hear the replacement track when Tyrant appears in:
    • The Police Station
    • Ada’s Section in the Sewers
    • & The Nest Greenhouse

With all this ‘X’ talk, I had a question — where does the name Mr. X even come from? The Japanese developers never refer to the Tyrant in-game as Mr. X. As it turns out, Mr. X is a nickname Claire gives to the Tyrant in the Resident Evil 2 novelization. Seriously.
