Every one of your primary weapons in Resident Evil 2 Remake can be upgraded. Shotguns get longer range, pistols become mini-SMGs, and simple revolvers become all-powerful magnums. If you search the city carefully, you can really make your basic weapons into tools of zombie destruction. To help you on your quest and fully upgrade every weapon in the game, we’ve put together a list showcasing all the locations you’ll need.

And these upgrades are very, very easy to miss. Most of them are stored in locked safes, behind optional puzzles, or hidden in secret locations that can only be discovered with film rolls. Getting the upgraded weapons in RE2 can be difficult — especially the SMG for Claire or the Magnum for Leon. If you don’t want to miss anything, just keep scrolling down. Some of these upgrades are actually really cool, and completely change the functionality of your weaponry.

[Work-in-Progress: Check back soon for screenshots and video.]

As you progress through Raccoon City, Leon and Claire will be able to collect a variety of upgrade parts for their arsenals. Each weapon includes at least one upgrade — and sometimes, you’ll be able to find a total of three. That’s a lot of upgrades. Find out where to get every part in the guide below.

Leon Exclusive Weapons

  • Matilda Pistol
    • Extended Magazine: 1F West Office – Unlock the dial locks on Leon’s desk. Input [NED] (left lock) and [MRG] (right lock). Doubles your pistol capacity.
    • Gunstock: B1 Parking Garage – Collect the yellow box from the Firing Range, then examine to get the bent key. Approach the cop car trunk in the Parking Garage and examine the bent key to unlock the trunk. Allows you to fire in 3-shot bursts.
    • Muzzle Break: 2F Waiting Room – Input the code [6-2-11] into the safe behind the desk. Lowers recoil.
  • W-870 Shotgun
    • Long Barrel: Behind RPD, Gun Shop – Found in Kendo’s Gunshop when Ada and Leon escape the RPD building. Gives you better accuracy.
    • Stock: Sewers, Treatment Pool – Unlock the safe in the Treatment Pool room to find the stock. The code is [2-12-8]. Lowers recoil.
  • Lightning Hawk Magnum
    • Long Barrel: Underground Facility – On your first trip to the Underground Facility, it was impossible to open the Special Weapons Case. From the Sewers, return to the Underground Facility and insert the STARS badge into the Special Weapons Case. Examine the badge to retract the USB port.
    • Red-Dot Sight:  2F STARS Office – Collect the Film Roll from the Upper Sewers Work Room, then return to the Dark Room in the RPD building to develop it. It reveals a hiding spot in the STARS Office. Return and check the drawer shown on the image. You must develop the image to reveal the location.
  • Chemical Flamethrower
    • Regulator: Laboratory, Nap Room – Restore power to the Nap Room with the Signal Modulator. The bunks will open, and you’ll be able to collect the weapon part.

Claire Exclusive Weapons
