Although they play a major part in The Last of Us Part 1‘s story, it becomes very clear in the early hours of the game that the Fireflies seem to be fighting something of a losing battle as you’ll find the evidence of their lost soldiers scattered across every area you encounter. The Firefly pendants are just simple collectibles in-game, sure, but they also help illustrate some important facts about the world of The Last of Us Part 1.
Luckily, if you’re uninterested in finding all 30 pendants, you certainly don’t have to as they’re completely optional. However, if you want to earn The Last of Us Part 1‘s platinum trophy, you’ll need to find them all for the “Fallen Firefly” trophy. Some can be tough to spot, but if you keep this guide close by as you play, you’ll be able to find them all in a single playthrough of the game.

Alone and Forsaken
#1: The first Firefly pendant doesn’t show up until a good way into the Pittsburgh chapter. Once you’ve gotten to the abandoned Fedra checkpoint, take care of the bandits or simply avoid them all by sneaking and head to the far end of the street from where you entered. On your right, you’ll see an alleyway that connects to the large building where a good portion of the bandits is first hanging out. Walk down the alley and behind the abandoned shelving unit at the end of it and you’ll find a Firefly pendant.
Hotel Lobby
#1: Continue along the main path until after Ellie saves Joel by shooting the bandit. Climb up the ladder, do some looting and jump down the set of broken stairs to the floor below. Take the second door on your left into the women’s bathroom and a Firefly pendant will be waiting for you on the ground in the corner stall.
Financial District
There are no Firefly pendants in this section of the level.
Escape the City
#1: After meeting up with Henry and Sam, they’ll take you on top of some buildings after taking out some bandits. You’ll eventually enter a new building by taking a makeshift bridge across a gap to get to a fire escape landing. Once inside, enter the first door on your left into a bathroom. The pendant will be inside the corner stall.
