Balatro has many interconnected layers that combine to make an enthralling experience. Equal parts push-your-luck, high-stakes poker, and rogue-like, there is a lot to sink your teeth into. So much so that we have many (many) guides covering the individual aspects of this outstanding indie release.

But we aren’t finished yet, because there’s plenty more to talk about. In this guide, we are going to dive into the often-overlooked world of Vouchers.

What Are Vouchers?

Vouchers are items you can buy between rounds in the Shop. These are powerful items that grant uniquely permanent effects to your run. Unlike one-use consumables, sellable Jokers, or even destroyable cards, once a Voucher is purchased, they are yours to keep until the end of the run.

Vouchers have another interesting characteristic – they are not refreshed. More accurately, they are not refreshed as often as other Shop items. While you can expect Packs and Jokers to refresh between rounds, Vouchers will only restock after you’ve defeated a Boss Blind.

Vouchers are not as flashy as Jokers – often lacking the bombastic game-changing effects granted by those purchasable modifiers. Despite that, they still offer powerful boons that should not be overlooked.

Every Voucher In Balatro

There are a total of 32 Vouchers in Balatro. Of the 32 Vouchers, 16 of them are only usable after you unlock them (we have a separate guide covering that here) and can only be purchased after you acquire the prerequisite Voucher. In short, there are 16 Vouchers, and 16 enhanced versions of those Vouchers.

Crystal Ball	+1 Consumable slot
Omen Globe	Spectral Cards can now appear in Arcana Packs
Director’s Cut	Reroll the Boss Blind once per Ante. $10 per roll
Retcon	Reroll the Boss blind an unlimited number of times. $10 per roll
Grabber	Gain +1 Hand
Nacho Tong	Gain an additional +1 Hand
Hieroglyph	Reduces Ante and Hand by 1
Petroglyph	Reduces Ante and Discard by 1
Hone	2x chance to spawn Foil, Holographic, or Polychrome cards
Glow Up	4x chancer to spawn Foil, Holographic, or Polychrome cards
Magic Trick	Playing Cards can now be purchased in the Shop
Illusion	Cards bought from the shop can now have Enhancements, Editions, and Seals
Overstock	+1 card slot in the shop
Overstock Plus	an additional +1 card slot in the shop
Paint Brush	+1 to your maximum hand size
Palette	An additional +1 to your maximum hand size
Planet Merchant	Planet Cards will appear 2x as often in the Shop
Planet Tycoon	Planet Cards will appear 4x as often in the Shop
Reroll Surplus	Rerolls are $2 cheaper
Reroll Glut	Rerolls are and additional $2 cheaper
Seed Money	Raise the Interest Cap per round to $10
Money Tree	Raise the Interest Cap per round to $20
Tarot Merchant	Tarot Cards will appear 2x as often in the Shop
Tarot Tycoon	Tarot Cards will appear 4x as often in the Shop
Telescope	Celestial Packs will always contain the planet that pertains to your most played hand
Observatory	Planet Cards in your inventory will grant x1.5 Mult for their specific hand type
