There are many different characters that you can use as assists in River City Girls 2. Many of these Recruits are just enemies that you can bring onto your side by having them surrender at low health, but other Recruits are special and not only require money to hire them to aid you and have their own unique moves, but are characters from the beat-em-up series’ past. There are 2 Recruits, however, that are making a cameo from the Guilty Gear series, Arc System Works’ premiere fighting game series: Franchise frontman Sol Badgy and fan-favorite Jam Kuradoberi. These two characters are not like some other Recruits that are just found in the world, but require the players to go through the process of collecting a set of Gear items to gain access to these two Daredevils. This guide will show players where to find all the Gear collectibles and unlock Sol Badguy and Jam Kuradoberi in River City Girls 2.
All Gear Locations In River City Girls 2
There are a total of 12 Gears found in 4 of the game’s 8 regions, those being Crosstown, Uptown, Downtown, and Flatirons. These Gears are only found in New Game+, so players that want to find these Guilty Gear cameos will need to first beat the game. Once the game is beaten, you can start a New Game+ playthrough by returning to the completed save file from the main menu and selecting the “New Game+” option when you select the cleared save file. Now, you will be able to find the Gears collectibles. Below is a breakdown of where to find all 12 of the Gears collectibles in River City Girls.
Crosstown
There are 3 Gears in Crosstown.
Gear #1
The first Gear you will find in the game is located in the Mall Lobby area of Crosstown. Once you enter the mall on your way to fight Ken, you will find a shop called Amy’s Candy. You will need to get above this shop to find the Gear. You can use a nearby bench to jump onto the roof of the small shop and reach the second floor of the mall. This is where you will find the Gear.
Gear #2
Progress through the game until yo gain access to the Crosstown Bank via a quest for Sabuko. Upon entering the bank, go to the right to find a hanging painting on the back wall. Destroy the painting to find the Gear in a secret safe behind it.
Gear #3
The final Gear in Crosstown is found in the Parking Garage that connects the region to both Uptown and Downtown. You will find a vent that you can jump onto as shown in the second image below. From here, you can jump onto a higher sign which is where you will find the Gear.
Downtown
There are 3 Gears in Downtown.
Gear #4
In the Farmer’s Market found at the bottom right part of the Downtown region, you will find a freight truck. Destroy the back of the freight truck to reveal the Gear sitting inside.
Gear #5
In Junk City, go all the way to the left exit of the area and jump on some nearby platforms to find this Gear on a ledge above the exit.
Gear #6
Downtown’s final Gear is found on Skid Street. Between the left and right parts of this area is a large gap. At the back of this gap is a chain link fence you can climb. Using the fence, you can reach a upper floor above the entrance to the subway, which is where you will find this Gear.
Uptown
There are 2 Gears in Uptown.
Gear #7
In the Toy District, this Gear can be reached by wall jumping between the two stores at the exit that leads to the underground area of the region.
Gear #8
Go to Yokocho, the area where you meet Mibobo and that leads to the Sanwakai Tower region. Go all the way to the right of the screen to find a pipe that can climb. At the top of the pipe is a platform you will find the Gear resting on.
Flatirons
There are 4 Gears in Flatirons.
Gear #9
Once you reach Flatirons after defeating Mirian in Downtown, you will need to travel to the Temple area and destroy all of the stone statues in the area. Note that leaving this room will reset all the statues, so make sure you destroy all of them in a single visit. Once all the statues are destroyed, the Gear will spawn on a stone in the pond to the left of the area’s entrance.
Gear #10
In the Witch’s Forest that you must navigate, go through the entrance seen in the second image to reach a screen with a waterfall. At the edge of the waterfall is where you will find this Gear.
Gear #11
On the Campground, you will find this Gear in plain sight next to the northwest entrance sitting on top of a large sign.
Gear #12
The final Gear of Flatirons and the game is found in the Waterfall area. Near the titular waterfall is a set of platforms consisting of stone squares and logs that lead to a small raft that has the game’s final Gear on it. Picking up this final Gear will also unlock the “Gimmie a Break” Achievement.
Where to Find Sol and Jam
When you get 6 of the 12 Gears, you can meet Jam and hire her as a Recruit. She is found standing on the scaffolding in the Yokocho area found in Uptown, the same place that you found Gear #8. Talk to her and you will have the option to hire her for your team. Calling Jam in will see her use her Ryuujin special move from Guilty Gear.
Once all 12 Gears are obtained, Sol can be found in Beach Plaza of Ocean Heights, which is unlocked upon defeating Tsuiko in Technos. Just like Jam, you can talk to him and get the option to hire him. Sol’s move of choice when called upon for help is his Gun Flame move.
