There are honest-to-god boss battles in Assassin’s Creed: Origins, and the bosses only become more impressive in ‘Curse of the Pharaohs’ — bringing back four powerful Pharaohs from the ancient past for Bayek to battle in one-on-one combat. And these guys are tough. Typically, they can kill you in just a few hits. They’re fast, strong, and have a ton of HP.
So there’s no shame in looking for extra help. There are four unique bosses in Assassin’s Creed: Origins, and all of them appear (and reappear) as Pharaoh’s Shadows in the open-world map. You’ll need the practice, especially against tough, tough opponents like Tutankhamun. The real fights are even trickier, so you’ll want to bring a strong sword — preferably one you can use to unleash charged attacks instantly.

Nefertiti
- Quest: The Lady of Grace
Nefertiti fights with dual swords, hits hard, but isn’t very aggressive. Keep your distance and bait her into a long range jump attack, then get a heavy attack in and get away. You’re likely only be level 47 or 48 by the time you reach her (if you haven’t been doing all the side content) — if you’re low level, she can kill you in only a few hits. Be cautious and attack when you get an opening. Watch for when she yells and shakes off sand, that’s when you can get an easy hit or two in.
Akenaten
- Quest: The Heretic
Akenaten has a giant sickle sword, so that means a lot of horizontal, sweeping attacks. He’s slow and his attacks are fairly telegraphed with poor reach, so keeping a mid-range distance is advised. The hitboxes on his attacks can be unpredictable, so wait for his attacks to play out before getting in there. He’s got a parry that can activate very quickly after he finishes an attack chain, so try and attack only when he’s still in an attack animation. The best time to strike is when he begins to perform a series of stabbing attacks, which are very obvious and give you a lot of time to get in some free hits.
Ramesses
- Quest: The King of Kings
Ramesses remains mostly unchanged from his shadow form. Don’t stick too close to him, wait for his big attacks and punish when he performs a taunt. One big change is the battlefield; sometimes a dust storm kicks up, greatly obscuring your vision. It also causes your lock-on cursor to disappear, though you do keep lock-on. At this point in the game, it shouldn’t be too much of a detriment as you’ll most likely be at or above Ramesses level, and can take a few hits if you have to. Most of his attacks leave him open for a counterattack, so you should be able to get a good rhythm going with constant attacks.
Tutankhamun
- Quest: The Curse of the Pharaohs
King Tut has a big spear, which in Origins translates to a lot of easy hits and telegraphed attacks. He’s pretty easy to sidestep. Try to keep a few steps back from him, as he does whip out horizontal attacks that will break your guard. If you’re feeling bold, you can dodge through almost all of his horizontal attacks with the right timing, so it’s possible to get in close and stay there. Not much is going to stagger him, so attack carefully.
