DOOM (2016): How to Enable God Mode – Dev Console Guide

May 12, 2016 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Only on PC: Cheat like Hell and enable God Mode with these step-by-step developer console instructions.

DOOM4-1

Cheat codes make a comeback in DOOM (2016) with these PC-only console commands. Most of these codes seem to be hold-overs from development, and you’ll find that most are (currently) disabled by default. Still, one of the most basic codes still works — God Mode.

Even God Mode isn’t exactly what it seems to be. Hazards still hurt the player when activated, and turning it on actually causes you to lose health in the game’s brutal Nightmare difficulty level. Earlier in development, one code made it so all enemies are totally immune to guns. They could only be killed with those signature Glory Kill animations seen in the original reveal trailer.

So what’s the deal with DOOM? The Doom Marine must suit up in his signature green armor for another reboot of the original. Instead of lending itself to horror, DOOM (2016) goes the opposite direction. This game is all about speed and brutally executing the demons invading Mars. iD describes it as something of an origin story for our beloved faceless protagonist — the kind that starts with shotguns to the face.

Check out list of cheat codes found so far and see which ones still work, how to input them in-game, and how to disable them with the guide below.

Cheat Codes List

Work-in-Progress: [5/13 Update — God Mode is the only code currently functioning properly. All other codes listed under the “Disabled” list.]

To bring down the console window, press [Ctrl – Alt – ~] — enter a code into the window and press Enter to input. When activated, codes enable Developer Mode on Steam, disable achievements, and are single-player only.

  • iddqd
Toggles God Mode (Not including hazards) — On Nightmare Difficulty, causes health meter to tick down.

To disable Developer Mode and re-active Steam achievements, you’ll need to toggle this code off, then restart your Steam copy of DOOM (2016) — the notification that you are playing in Developer Mode should now be removed.

Check back for more info as more cheat codes are discovered and tested.

Disabled Codes

The codes below are confirmed [Disabled] and don’t currently work in-game. Because they are references to previous series cheats and found in the game’s code, we will leave them published here for posterity.
