Playing Zork Again [Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War]
We’re going back to Black Ops Cold War for a double-dipping of Easter eggs. Every Call of Duty is packed with modes, and Black Ops Cold War might be the most expansive of the bunch. The campaign definitely takes a more open-approach to story-telling, giving you a little player agency between the gunfights.
One of the coolest secrets in the game is found in the safehouse. Between missions, you’ll return to a German safehouse where you can interact with the other characters. If you follow clues posted on a gate in the main room, you can unlock a door leading to an old computer.
And on this computer? You can play Zork — a really old text-only adventure game. You can play it fully from beginning to end by typing on a virtual keyboard, even on console. It’s a cool Easter egg, and a reference to the same Easter egg found in Black Ops 1.
Discovering Defalt’s Lair [Watch Dogs: Legion]
Watch Dogs: Legion is a more irreverent take on the techno-spy thriller story, giving you access to weird characters like Hypnotists and Living Statues to bamboozle the evil PMC trying to take over London. There’s kind of a sinister air to the silliness, and this weird Easter egg definitely covers both bases — it all involves a ridiculously elaborate Ubisoft sponsored ARG.
Fans worked together to uncover the mystery of Defalt’s Lair — a secret location in London that only becomes available at a very specific time of day. If you wait until the right exact moment, a door in the water will unlock, giving you access to a club filled with mannequins. You’ll even get a special Defalt mask, the villainous DJ you battle in the original Watch Dogs. We’ve got a full guide for the Easter egg right here.
