Pokémon Sword & Shield: Isle of Armor DLC – How To Access The New Island & Story Content

Pokémon Sword & Shield just gained a new adventure in The Isle of Armor expansion, giving you access to new rare Pokémon, new powerful items, and a method to enhance your starter Pokémon, turning them into powerful Gigamax versions! There’s a lot to find, but first you’ll need to access the island — and it’s really very simple, but there are a few things you need to know.

First off, don’t buy the wrong expansion pass! Lots of players have accidentally purchased the incorrect expansion pass for their version of the game, and even Nintendo released a statement — basically, you need to buy the Expansion Pass for the version of Pokémon Sword & Shield you own.

If you’re really worried about buying the wrong version of the expansion, just load your game up on the Nintendo Switch, open the menu [Y], and select the Expansion Pass at the bottom-right of the screen. This will automatically select the correct expansion pass for you to purchase.

How To Access The Isle of Armor DLC

After purchasing and downloading the Isle of Armor expansion pass from the Nintendo eShop (again, make sure to get the right version! Sword for Sword, Shield for Shield), jump into your game and you’ll get a message explaining how to reach the new island.

  • After downloading the Isle of Armor DLC, you’ll receive an Armor Pass item in your inventory.
  • To reach the Isle of Armor, go to Wedgehurst Station and show the station agent your Armor Pass. He’s the guy talking to one of the two new trainers you’ll encounter.
  • After catching the Slowpoke, talk to the station agent again and select to travel to Armor Station. If you use the regular travel method, you won’t find Armor Station available!

You can access this DLC at any level! Whether you’re level 1, 20, or 60 — the Pokémon and story content will scale to your level, so you’ll experience a challenge no matter what when you arrive in the Isle of Armor.

Before you can go, you’ll have to catch a Slowpoke in the station. If you’re really high level, just use a Great Ball to make sure you catch this rascal. After that, you’re free to take a ride to the new Wild Area and begin your training!
