The Almighty, the massive ship slowly approaching Earth (and totally visible from the tower) just exploded — and it brought a bunch of changes to the game. This ship’s appearance in the sky precursors the next big announcement from Bungie detailed the (expected) new major DLC for Destiny 2. The announcement event is going down on June 9th, and you’ll find plenty of updates right here.
What’s the deal with the Almighty? It’s a big threatening ship, and thanks to the power of Rasputin. Rasputin is a powerful AI that’s important to the lore of the game but really hasn’t played any meaningful role in the plot — until now. Fully-operational, Rasputin shoots the Almighty down and even if you missed the big event, you can go check out the mess this event made to the Tower. It’s partially wrecked; something that was actually discovered much earlier by players randomly spawning into the unreleased version of the tower.
The big changes include a completely revamped controller remapping feature, allowing you to map you controllers with a whole lot more customization in mind. It’s great that Bungie is looking out for gamers with disabilities, and as an added bonus, three Exotics just got a little easier to unlock.

Changes to exotic loot drop percentage is something hardcore Destiny 2 players can celebrate. These notoriously difficult-to-acquire items are getting easier, but you’ll still have to put a lot of work in. Certain Raid Exotics are gaining the cumulative drop system — and some, like the Tarrabah, already take advantage of this system.
According to the patch notes, certain exotics increase their drop chances the more you play through the raid. The following exotics have a 10% drop chance, and the chances increase up to a maximum of 50% following 20 raid clears.
- Cumulative Drop Chance Exotics:
- Anarchy
- One Thousand Voices
- Always On Time (Exotic Sparrow – Only available from the secret chest in Scourge of the Past raid.)
Unfortunately, these improvements are not retroactive — any past raid completions will not count toward your cumulative drop chance. You’ll need to complete these raids once the changes have been implemented to improve your percentage.
The Destiny 2.9.0 update will be available next week, so you’ll want to wait a few days before diving back into the raid grind. May luck smile on you — and may Bungie make even more Exotics easier to unlock.
