Journey To The Savage Planet: All 10 Fuel Source Locations | ‘Round Trip’ Guide

February 1, 2020 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Refuel your spaceship and escape the Savage Planet with all 10 secret locations.

Want to escape the planet? You’ll need fuel.

You can end your story at any given time in Journey To The Savage Planet — even before you’ve finished any of your objectives — but only if you have fuel. You need 5 fuel sources to fill up your starship, and you can launch the Javelin if you’ve got the 5. But, if you want the best possible ending, you just might want to collect all 10.

Fuel Sources are pretty tricky to locate. Like the video or explorer log collectibles, they’re usually very well-hidden, and most of them will only be available when you re-explore areas of the map with all your end-game abilities unlocked. If you’re lost, confused, and need a hint to point you in the right direction, here’s where to find all 10 fuel sources in the game.

To complete the quest ‘Round Trip‘, you’ll need to find all 10 alien fuel sources. You only need 5 to make it back to Earth safely, but you’ll get a better ending if you collect all 10 — and finish your survey!

Your first Fuel Source is free. You won’t miss it!

Landing Site Fuel Sources:

Fuel Source #1: Towering Crystals of Madness – The first fuel source you’ll find is at the top of the Towering Crystals of Madness, the area found to the far left of the Verdant Wilds of Zyl. At the top, there’s a small area populated by pufferbirds with this fuel in a cave.

Fuel Source #2: Plork’s Vertical Corridor – From the Cliffs of Mt. Gzarfyn, travel toward the waterfalls above the Verdant Wilds of Zyl. There’s a canyon that leads a cavern with an alien door. Use a Shock Fruit to open the door and use Launch Thruster to climb the tricky platforming challenge. The location is just above the Meat Vortex entrance from the Verdant Wilds to the Tranquil Crevasse.

The Fuel behind this mushroom is really easy to grab, and really easy to miss.

Itching Fields Fuel Sources:

Fuel Source #3: Zor’s Planetary Flotsam – Go left from the alien tablet near the teleporter and continue on until you find a magnetic grind rail. You’ll need the advanced proton tether to cross it. It leads into a small cave with an alien fuel source.

Fuel Source #4: Festering Chasm – Near the Festering Chasm teleporter, there’s an alien tablet marking a Launch Thruster spot. That means you need the Launch Thruster upgrade to reach the secret area above. If you have it, just launch upward and use a Bombegranate to blast open the cracked wall.

Fuel Source #5: Festering Chasm – To the right of the Launch Thruster marker (the one that takes you up to the Lair of the Matriarch teleporter) find a small cave behind a blue mushroom.

Fuel Source #6: Fungi of Si’ned VII – To the left of the Infested Husk entrance, there’s a path that leads to a cracked floor. Use the Stomp Thruster to smash through and collect this easy Fuel Source.

This cave has a Fuel Source and an Alien Alloy. Two prizes in one place!

Elevated Realm Fuel Sources:

Fuel Source #7: Pillars of Xzorgana – Use the Launch Thruster to reach the tiny water-flowing island directly above the Pillars of Xzorgana teleporter.

Fuel Source #8: Pillars of Xzorgana – Beneath the teleporter, on the island, there’s a small cave that’s visible from the floating pillars platforming area.

Fuel Source #9: Pillars of Xzorgana – From the teleporter, go to the nearby floating island that you can only reach with the triple-jump upgrade. In the back of the island, there’s a cave entrance with a green goo and a cracked floor. The cracked floor lads to this fuel.

Fuel Source #10: Crackling Pedestal – Near the teleporter, to the right, there’s a floating island with an alien door. Triple-jump to reach the door, then jump off the island so that door opens — that’s your chance to blast the door with a Shock Fruit.
