The Third Encounter – The Consecrated Mind Boss Fight
- Step #1: Summon The Consecrated Mind
To make the Consecrated Mind appear, you need to link the Central Conflux to a Tether Cube in the distance. You’ll need all six Guardians to reach it. Once you tether up, the Consecrated Mind, the boss from the first encounter area, will reappear in the center arena.
- Step #2: Collect The Voltaic Overflow
The boss will eventually retreat in one of four directions. You need someone to follow it and collect the Voltaic Overflow cube it spits out before your team is killed. Designate Guardians to each sector, and call out which direction the boss is going.
- Step #3: Split Into Two Teams | Conflux & Voltaic Overflow
From the center, you’ll see that one of the Confluxes you were defending before has activated thanks to a helpful pillar of light. The team now needs to split — 3 Guardians collecting Voltaic Overflow (Team #1: Boss) and 3 Guardians going to the active Conflux (Team #2: Conflux).
- Step #4: Deposit 30 Motes To Unlock The Boss Damage Phase
Team #2 needs to collect Motes, dropped by Vex Minotaurs. and deposit them at the Conflux. It’s just like playing Gambit. Depositing 5 Motes will give a Guardian the Enlightened Buff. Defend the Conflux with one Guardian, while the others collect more Motes.
Deposit 30 Motes at the Conflux total to make the boss vulnerable to damage — this is how you activate the damage phase, so be ready to attack once 30 Motes are deposited.
- Step #4B: Boss Team – How To Prevent Wipes With Detained
Team #1 sticks with the boss. All three players need to follow it to each quadrant when it spits out a Voltaic Overflow cube. Whoever collects it will get the ‘Detained’ Buff, keeping them stuck in place, but revealing hidden red lights on the boss itself.
- NOTE: As long as you collect the ‘Detained’ buff, you’ll avoid a team wipe. But, if you collect the buff twice in a row, like before, you’ll die instantly.
Bring two other Guardians — the Detained Guardian needs to call out which of the red lights are ‘real’ — the Detained Guardian will only see three red lights instead of six. Everyone on Team #1 need to coordinate to shoot these hidden three lights.
- NOTE: The buff lasts a long time, so eventually you’ll need to swap out one player from Team #2 to Team #1 so no Guardian collects the buff while it’s still active.
The red lights are always the inner three or the outer three. So, just say ‘outer’ or ‘inner’ if you’re the Detained Guardian. You have a very, very short timeframe to shoot these lights. Shoot them too slow or shoot the wrong lights, and the Detained Guardian will die.
- Step #5: Drawn To The Conflux – Damage Phase
After depositing 30 Motes, the boss is drawn to the active Conflux. All six Guardians need to travel there and work together to damage the boss. It will split open and reveal lots of red lights — shoot all of them together as a team.
Aim for the eye in the center for criticals, and bring weapons that do damage at long-range. The boss will retreat as you damage him, so Sniper Rifles and other accurate guns can give you even more damage.
The boss retreats, raising walls you’ll need to platform around. Follow it back to the center of the arena, and the encounter will reset.
- Step #6: Reset, Deposit 30 Motes Again, Repeat Until Dead
To defeat the boss, just follow the steps again. Collect and Deposit 30 Motes, follow the boss and shoot the red lights to stop squad wipes, and shoot it together during the damage phase. Repeat the Damage Phase until the boss is dead.
For your heroic efforts, you’ll get another Raid Chest.
Platforming Section
The second platforming section is very long and intricate, but you’re free to take your time. There’s also a hidden Raid Chest here — be on the lookout! This path leads to the final raid encounter.
