Red Dead Online: How To Get Free Respawning Health Cures | Item Guide

November 29, 2018 by Kevin Thielenhaus

Everything is more expensive in Red Dead Online, from the clothes you wear, to the weapons you need for those day-to-day missions. You’ll need to spend cash on food for yourself, and food for your horse — there’s so much to spend money on, and not enough ways to earn it. You can run low fast, so it helps to cut corners whenever possible. Nicely, there’s a way to farm Health Cures that I’ve discovered myself, and using this simple method, I’ve collected a nice stack that I’ve put away for a rainy day.

The trick is all in replaying a specific story mission. Unfortunately, you can’t simply replay any story mission you want in Red Dead Online. You’ll have to roll the dice and take your chances with the Quick Play option on your Character Menu. Tap [Left] on the D-Pad to access the Character Menu, then scroll down to join a Quick Lobby. Make sure you’re only aiming for story missions.

Story missions don’t just give the most XP, you’ll also find lots of good items around each camp. There’s one specific spot that nobody seems to look that always contains a Health Cure — and a bunch of other useful items. Learn all about it in the guide below.

How To Get Free Respawning Health Cures | Item Guide

Health Cures are your most frequently used tonic — they’re invaluable. You’ll want to keep plenty of them ready for tricky missions. They don’t just refill your health bar, they’ll also give you some quick fortification. You can purchase these for a premium, or collect free ones when you’re busy grinding story missions.

A free Health Cure appears in the mission ‘Kerosene, Tar, and Greed‘ — you’ll get it frequently in the current state of the game. Most players aren’t getting the honorable missions. This is a dishonorable mission. In this job, you’ll have to board a train and use it to infiltrate the Cornwell company. There are valuables to loot, especially off the industrialists, but another spot shouldn’t be missed.

At the back of the train you need to steal in this mission, you’ll find medical car. There’s a free Health Cure on the shelf, along with free ammo and Baked Beans in the cupboard. You can also loot the chest in this office for random items. It’s a pretty easy find, and this mission is very common.

I only just started the game, and I’ve played through this mission 5+ times. When you get the mission, just head on to the back of the car and grab this. You can repeat story missions as many times as you want — you won’t earn money for repeat completions, but you will earn XP.

To replay missions, open your Character Menu and scroll down to the Quick Play Lobby select. From here, you’ll be able to select the type of activity. Choose Story Missions, and you’ll be able to join a job very, very quickly. It usually only takes a minute or two of waiting.

The important takeaway is this — if you’re looking to save cash, you don’t want to just loot the bodies. Look inside rooms and on shelves. Look at the camps. There are usually collections of items you can take. You won’t find money, but a can of baked beans is a lot more valuable than that eight cents you’ll get by looting dead bodies.
