Destiny 2: Warmind DLC – How To Find Two Secret Chests In The Spire of Stars Raid Lair | Puzzle Guide

May 18, 2018 by Kevin Thielenhaus

There are two extra Raid level chests you (and your Fireteam) can grab in the Spire of Stars Raid Lair, the one included in the Destiny 2: Warmind expansion. One of them is in a hidden spot, while the other can only be accessed if your team completes a very specific puzzle in the platforming area — you know, the one with all the spinning fan blades.

After completing the first encounter, you’ll drop down into the Leviathan underbelly and continue until you extend a bridge to multiple giant spinning fan blades, hanging over an insanely enormous expanse. This is the platforming section of the Raid Lair, and it’s where you’ll find both bonus Raid Chests. You’ll need to enter the little room on the right to hit the switch and extend the bridge — and when you do, you can start the jumping puzzle proper. Below, we’ll explain how to reach the secret chests and how to complete the puzzle to make a second chest appear.

How To Find Two Secret Chests In The Spire of Stars Raid Lair | Puzzle Guide

In the giant spinning fan-blades platforming room, begin the puzzle proper after extending the bridge to the first turbine-like machinery. There are three checkpoints with three switches you’ll need to activate as you progress through the giant spinning fan blades. Before we can find the hidden chest, we’ll have to find the puzzle chest first.

  • How To Get The Puzzle Chest:
    • In the first switch room, look to the right of the entrance to spot a glowing blue lights on a box next to pipes. Shoot the blue lights until they turn off. This will cause a Greed Ball to spawn.
      • Like in the first challenge, you’ll need to charge the Greed Ball and pass it to different players — if you hold it too long, you’ll die.
    • Now, you need to pass the Greed Ball through the three checkpoints (switch rooms) in the platforming puzzle. Spread out your team so you can pass the Greed Ball to the bridge, across the fan blades, and to the first checkpoint room.
      • Each checkpoint room has a purple receptacle you can throw the Greed Ball into.
    • Once you throw the ball into the purple receptacle in the switch room, you’ll “checkpoint it”, meaning you can re-collect it from here if you mess up later.
      • Do the same for the next two checkpoint switch rooms in the puzzle. Pass it between players waiting in intervals between the checkpoints.
    • At the last bridge switch room, you’ll need to exit the jumping puzzle chamber and look left for one final purple receptacle. Just pass the Greed Ball back and forth as you cross the bridge and reach the final purple slot. Throw the ball into the receptacle to unlock the door.
      • The Raid Chest is right inside.

  • How To Get The Hidden Chest:
    • The hidden chest is also found in the platforming puzzle area. Count the number of switches / checkpoints you’ve crossed. When you reach the third switch room (out of four) you’ll want to look up and find a window in the room. It’s visible from the platform above the switch terminal.
    • Exit through the window and jump across the spinning fan blades until you reach an engine-thing at the back of the turbine. The Raid Chest is located back here.
