One of the main differences in Civilization 7 from previous entries in the franchise is the introduction of Ages. Each Age comes with unique buildings, but Golden Age buildings stick around for longer in a game of Civilization 7.
In Civilization 7, all bonuses from building will be removed upon transitioning to a new Age and buildings from the previous Age can be overbuilt. However, if you achieve a Golden Age building, you get to keep its bonuses for another era.

How to get Golden Age Buildings in Civilization 7
There are currently three Golden Age buildings in Civilization 7, two that are focused on Science and one that boosts Culture and Wonder Production.
Golden Age Academy
The Academy is unlocked once Mathematics is researched. If the Great Library Legacy Path is completed in the Antiquity Age and the Science Golden Age Legacy Point is chosen during the Age transition, the Academy can be transformed into the Golden Age Academy. The Golden Age Academy retains all of the yields of the base Academy, along with its effects and adjacency bonuses which are:
- +4 Science
- +1 Science for each adjacent resource
- +1 Science for each adjacent Wonder
- 3 Codex slots
The effects of the Golden Age Academy will expire after the Exploration Age is over.
Golden Age Amphitheater
The Amphitheater becomes available after researching Engineering. If the Wonders of the Ancient World Legacy Path is completed before the end of the Antiquity Age and the Culture Golden Age Legacy Point is chosen during the Age transition, the Amphitheater can become the Golden Age Amphitheater, carrying over the following bonuses:
- +4 Culture
- +10% Production towards Wonders
- +1 Culture for each adjacent Mountain tile
- +1 Culture for each adjacent Wonder
- +1 Culture for each adjacent Natural Wonder
The effects of the Golden Age Amphitheater will expire after the Exploration Age ends.
Golden Age University
The University can be built when Education is researched. If the Enlightenment Legacy Path is completed in the Exploration Age and the Science Golden Age Legacy Point is chosen during the Age transition, the regular University turns into the Golden Age University. Since its bonuses will remain, expect to continue to receive:
- +5 Science
- +1 Science on Quarters
- +1 Science for each adjacent resource
- +1 Science for each adjacent Wonder
The Golden Age variation will return back to a regular University after the Modern Age is over.
