The final boss (currently) of Mighty DOOM is the powerful Hell Priest in Room 40 of Chapter 9. Getting to Room 40 is its own challenge, but many players are hitting a wall against the Hell Priest. This foe summons a rain of fire from the sky that’s random and covers most of the room, forcing the Slayer to move carefully or eat a lot of damage. As one of the hardest bosses in the game, we’ve decided to provide a little bonus coverage to help you overcome the challenge. If you’re struggling against the Hell Priest, there are two strategies you can take — either learn to carefully dodge his attacks or bait out his easiest-to-dodge attack and turn the Hell Priest fight into a total joke.

Chapter 9 | Final Boss Tips
There are two basic strategies. We’ll start with the first — stay far away and carefully dodge his attacks. If you’re going to use this method, totally ignore the Hell Priest and focus completely on watching the Doom Slayer. Keep your eye on your character. You don’t need to look at the Hell Priest at all for this fight if you’re dodging the fire rain.
- Use an upgraded Plasma Rifle or Heavy Cannon to deal accurate damage far away from the Hell Priest. Focus on getting upgrades for power and attack speed.
- The Ballista / Gauss Cannon are extremely powerful and deal high damage to the boss at any range. Accuracy is very important.
- The BFG is another strong choice. We don’t want to get too close to the Hell Priest.
- Stay moving. The Hell Priest summons lava from the sky. You don’t need to move far to avoid. He summons fireballs randomly and on your Mini Slayer specifically with targeted red circles. Move JUST OUTSIDE the red circle currently targeting you.
- Be prepared to move as lava rains. The trick is to move in short, small increments. Move out of the circle that’s currently targeting you and no further. Dodging attacks is incredibly important for this fight.
- Stay far away from the Hell Priest. If you don’t get close, you won’t trigger any of his other attacks. His long-range attacks include randomly spawning lava rain or generating larger red fire circles. If you don’t get close, you can focus completely on dodging his attacks.
Alternatively, if you’re struggling to dodge the fire rain attack, you can easily bait out his (extremely easy to dodge) AOE fire attack. To do this, you need to stand extremely close to the Hell Priest — you’ll want your muzzle practically touching him, even as he slowly moves around. If you do this, he’ll summon a wall of flame in a circle around him. Back away, then immediately return to the extreme close-range position after the fire dissipates. This makes him a very easy target and can make a somewhat tricky battle totally trivial.
