Does Apex Legends Mobile Have Bots?

May 24, 2022 by Peter Hunt Szpytek

Can I play against real people? Please? As a treat?

Ever since it was released, Apex Legends Mobile has been popular among fans of the original console and PC versions of the game, but also with newcomers to the franchise. The great thing about the game being on mobile devices is that it opens the door for a much broader player base given how many people have devices that can run the game.

Many seasoned veterans of Apex Legends have dipped into the mobile version and were surprised to find how faithful of an adaptation the mobile version is. When playing a few matches, however, some fans have been wondering if the game is full of bots instead of other players.

Apex Legends Mobile Bots Explained

The short answer is: yes, early matches in a player’s career in Apex Legends Mobile are filled with bots. While this might be slightly irritating for series veterans looking to get right into the action of playing against other similarly skilled players, the bots do serve a purpose. Essentially, they offer players the chance to get acclimated to the touch control scheme that Apex Legends Mobile runs on. This is a pretty common technique in multiplayer games as of late, so, to an extent, it makes sense that Apex Mobile would include it for new players.

Of course, players that are using controllers will have no trouble completely wiping the floor with the rather brain-dead bots in their starting rounds. Luckily, those already acclimated with Apex‘s mechanics are able to score some free in-game levels by going on a rampage against the bots.

As you play more, you will run into fewer bots with each match, but you still expect to see them from time to time depending on your internet connection and the game’s player count. If you’re frustrated by the bots, consider using the time against them to try out new strategies, Legends, or weapons while you’ve got some “moving targets.”
