#1: Get An S-Class Launcher Recharge Upgrade ASAP
When you start the game, you’ll have Artemis’s Crashed Ship. Trade it for a new ship with an S-Class Launcher Recharge Upgrade when you reach the first space station. Get this upgrade first and you’ll never have to worry about Launch Fuel.
#2: Mine Space Rocks For Your Early Upgrades
After launching into space, if you’re looking for easy money, just mine floating space rocks for tons of gold and crystal. Both are more plentiful, you earn more units, and you have a larger cargo capacity. Fill yourself up and sell at the nearest space station to start unlocking early upgrades — movement upgrades and mining lasers are a good start.
NOTE: For millions of units, find Salvage Planets and loot everything. You can easily earn 8+ million units.
#3: Stack Quests For Quicksilver
When you’re in space, you’ll be able to reach the Space Anomaly and talk to Nada — take as many quests as you can. These quests are usually very simple, and you’ll complete them just by playing / exploring naturally. This way, you’ll also get tons of quicksilver, in addition to everything else. Quicksilver is a common reward for quests.
You can also snag quests from space stations.
#4: Grab The S-Class Scanner Upgrade & S-Class Mining Upgrade ASAP
These take some time to farm, but these overlooking upgrades give you insane upgrades to your resource-collecting / unit farming potential. The S-Class Scanner gives you ~60,000 units per creature scanned, while the S-Class Mining Upgrade gives you +50% more resources for mining.
You can get multiple S-Class Scanner Upgrades — stack them up, and you can get ~200,000 per scan.
#5: Keep That Residual Goop & Rusted Metal
You get Residual Goop from quest terminals. It might seem useless, but it’s one of the many ways you can earn Nanites. Process the Residual Goop into Viscous Slime through a refiner, then into Living Slime, and finally into Runaway Mold. Runaway Mold becomes Nanite Clusters.
Rusted Metal is also crazy-useful. You can refine Rusted Metal into Ferrite. Lots and lots of Ferrite.
#6: If You’re Playing In VR, Use The Move Controllers For On-Foot & The DS4 For Flight
No Man’s Sky BEYOND is completely compatible with VR, and if you’re on the PS4, it’s important to know that you can use both the Move controllers and the DS4 controller at the same time. Both can be connected, so you can easily swap between the two — the Move controllers are just fine when you’re walking around, but using them in-flight will instantly make you motion sick. Try swapped to the DS4 for a smoother flight experience.
#7: Upgrade Your Exosuit Slots Whenever You Can
A crappy Exosuit will make your life miserable. Expand it every time you visit a Space Station — there’s an Exosuit Slot Expansion Kiosk on every station. You’ll find them behind the Exosuit Upgrade Module Vendor. Giving yourself more slots can change your life.
#8: Build A Signal Booster To Locate Monoliths Fast
The Signal Booster is the best way to find Monoliths on a planet. From the menu, select ‘Input Navigational Data’ and search for artifacts. You won’t also get a Monolith location, but you’re much more likely to run into one now. It’s completely random, so you might have to try a few times. Still, that’s better than searching blindly.
#9: You Can Teleport To Your Base Without A Portal
Here’s a trick some people might now know. You can teleport to your homebase, even if you don’t have a portal built. If you teleport to your base, you’ll appear at the Computer Terminal instead. If you build a portal, you’ll appear there — but it isn’t required.
Portals require power, but you can turn them off and still travel to your base. You’ll just go to the computer instead! Installing a pressure plate circuit under a portal is also a good way to save power — it’ll only turn on when you’re entering it that way, and turn off when you leave.
#10: Get Blueprints By Exploring Operations Centers On Planets
There’s one easy way to get Blueprints — and it’s exploring lost Operations Centers on planets. You need to blast open the doors, but it’s worth seeking these locations out. Manufacturing Facilities are obviously great places to check out, but the Ops Buildings are seemingly a lot less useful. Don’t skip them!
