#6. Shadow Warrior 2: Dev Rooms & Old-School Naked Sprite Easter Eggs
This is a blast from the past. Developer Rooms and naked sprites were common in Build Engine era video games — most notably the original Shadow Warrior and Duke Nukem 3D. You’re free to check these (not so) naked sprites out in Shadow Warrior 2, and relive the glory days, when games were made by complete goofballs with no oversight.
#7. Devil May Cry 5: There’s A Secret Ending Right At The Start, Here’s How To Unlock It
Look, I absolutely love an early ending. Whether it’s Far Cry 4, or Devil May Cry 5 — what’s great about DMC5 is that you have to really work for your legendary ending. The game begins with an absolutely insane boss battle that’s essentially impossible to win. If you’re somehow good enough to defeat this boss, which can take upwards of 30 minutes (unless you know the trick) than you’re a god-like player, and deserve to beat the game before the story even starts.
#8. Pokemon GO: How to Earn Any Eevee Evolution Every Single Time
Eevee is a very special Pokémon that can transform into multiple different types — depending on how it evolves. Pokémon GO includes a special Easter egg that’s all about naming to get the Eevee you want. By naming your Eevee after one of the names matching Eevees from the anime series, you’ll be able to get a specific Eevee evolution. It’s a cute nod to the cartoon, and developer Niantic even expanded upon when they added even more Eevee evolutions to the game.
#9. Modern Warfare Remastered: How to Kill Makarov | Time Paradox Easter Egg
Remastered versions of older games have become pretty big business. Usually only the graphics get a touch-up, you don’t normally find extra Easter eggs included. Here’s one retcon that works — Modern Warfare Remastered included future villain Makarov in the game, exactly where he appears in the story campaign for Modern Warfare 3. If you shoot him, you can earn yourself a Time Paradox, which is itself a reference to the many paradox-related Easter eggs of Metal Gear Solid 3.
Capcom loves itself a self-referential Easter egg. You can unlock moves from Street Fighter series heroes Ryu and Ken in two separate Mega Man X games — and those Easter eggs are perfectly preserved in the Mega Man X Legacy Collection. Too bad we still haven’t gotten an Akum cameo in RE2.
