There are three major currency types in Tchia: trophies (used to buy attempts at the claw machines,) clam pearls (used to buy cosmetics and used as offerings to progress the story,) and braided trinkets (also used to buy cosmetic items and as offerings for story progression.) While money doesn’t seem to be a big part of the New Caledonian-inspired culture on display in the game and finding trophies, pearls and trinkets is largely optional, players will need at least a few clam pearls and braided trinkets in order to progress the story.
Finding trinkets, however, can feel a little bit like finding a needle in a haystack, especially early on when players don’t have much of a lay of the land yet and haven’t discovered the easiest way of finding them. If you’re struggling to get enough trinkets for the mandatory offerings in Tchia‘s story or for the optional cosmetics boxes, worry not. Here’s everything you need to know about finding them.

How to Get Braided Trinkets
When players first get access to Tchia‘s open world, they’re tasked with getting five braided trinkets (among other things) as an offering for their meeting with Meavora. At the start of the game, getting five trinkets sounds like something of a tall order, but players will soon realize that braided trinkets can be found all over Ija Noj and Madra Noj.
The most important thing to remember when hunting for braided trinkets, is that they have a bright green glow to them that can be seen from far away. Because of this, it’s not a bad idea to hunt for them at night when the glow is most easily seen.
In total, there are 180 braided trinkets scattered across Tchia, so you’re bound to start finding them eventually. If you don’t want to leave it up to chance encounters, however, and are in search of trinkets either to purchase cosmetics, progress the story, or unlock the 100% completion trophies, there is a way to get trinkets marked on your map.
To see all of the trinkets in any given area of Tchia, find nearby points of view and shout off of them. There are 15 points of view in total in the game and they’re marked on your map. They’re usually found at the top of high peaks that overlook a lot of land. Once you shout when reaching one, all of the nearby trinkets and other points of interest will be marked on your map.
Because Tchia takes a hands-off approach to exploration, you won’t be able to see exactly where you are in relation to the trinkets you’re trying to find on the map. If you want to get one that’s specifically marked on your map, simply put a pin in it and then use your compass to locate the pinned location.
